John Bolton was the only Garrard Co KY Bolton in 1830 & 1840.

      John Bolton, born 1786 NC, lived in Garrard Co until the 1860s, then was in Madison Co until he died. His wife Sally Ford was born in VA 1793. They lived with their son Sidney in Garrard Co in until Sally died there on 8 June 1860. John then moved with Sidney to Madison Co. John must have died in Madison Co in the 1870s. Their children were-

1.   Eliza Bolton, b 1809 in Buckingham Co VA, married Wiley Embry in Garrard Co in 1829. He was born 1808 in Garrard Co KY. They lived in Madison Co in 1840 & Butler Co KY (in western KY) in 1850. They had nine children by 1850. Eliza died there in the 1850s. (362ik,747n)

2.   Marlow Bolton, b 1811, was not in 1830 census, so probably died young. (W,362i, 362k,747n)

3.   Malachi Bolton, b 1812 in Madison Co KY, md Elizabeth Felkins in Garrard Co in 1838 and lived in Garrard Co afterwards. Betsy was born 1815. They had five children by 1850, eight by 1860, and nine by 1870. (362i,359jmknqr)

4.   Mary Elizabeth Bolton, b 1813, md Wm Short in 1837. He must have died in the 1860s because “Lizzie Short” was living with her brother Sidney and her father in Madison Co in 1870. (362ir,359jm)

5.   girl Bolton, b 1811-1815, not in 1830 census, not home in 1840. Probably died young. (359j)

6.   Elbert Gentry Bolton, born 1816, md Nancy East in 1836 and was living with Nancy’s parents in 1840. In 1850 they lived on their own farm next to his parents’ farm. They had six children by 1850. (362i,359jmkn)

7.   Ballard Bolton, b 1818, md Nancy _____ about 1841 (mg record not found). They lived in Garrard Co in 1850 & 1860. Nancy was born in KY in 1823. They had seven children by 1880. (362i,359jknqs)

8.   boy Bolton, b 1821-1825, not home in 1840, died young. (359j)

9.   Beverly Bolton, b abt 1823, md Mary Prewit in 1845 in Garrard Co, and were not found after 1845. (359jkm)

10. boy Bolton, b 1826-1830, died in the 1840s. (359jk)

11. Sidney Bolton, b 1828, lived with his parents in Garrard Co in 1850. He married Sallie _____ about 1858 and they lived in Madison Co until the 1870s when they moved to Madison Co with his parents.. Sallie was born in 1838 in Ireland. 12. Sally Ann Bolton, b 1828, md John Fry in 1849. He was born 1820. They lived Garrard Co in 1850 next door to her parents and had one son then. (359jkmn)

14. Camelia Bolton, b 1839, could be a daughter of Sarah and John; Sarah would have been age 46 when Camelia was born. Or Camelia could have been a daughter of son Malachi who was married in 1838. Camelia was not found after 1850. (359n)
