LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

OF

JOHN HEMELMAN

In the Name of God Amen.

I John Hemelman of the South East Passage of Halifax in the Province of Nova Scotia Farmer -- do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner following. First I Receipt my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping and behaving and believing a remission of my sins by the merit and meditation of Jesus Christ and my Body I commit to this earch to be buried at the discretion of my Executor here in after named. And after the payment of all my just debts--funeral expenses and the probate of this my will of the personal effects whereof I shall die possessed (??). First, I bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Hemelman all my Real and personal Estate. All the stock farming utensils and Every thing I own at the time of my death to my wife Elizabeth Hemelman and if my wife Elizabeth Hemelman alters her name then my Real and personal Estate shall be divided equally among my Children, Lewis, Peter, John, William and James and if my wife Elizabeth donít get married, after her death then the Remainder of my Real and personal Estate to be divided among my Children as follows, first, to my Sons Lewis, Peter, John, and James Hemelman each and all an equal Share and I do hereby appoint my wife Elizabeth Hemelman Executrix -- and my Son Lewis Hemelman Executor of this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at the South East Passage of Halifax this Eleventh day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four ----
