New Parish Hall

The Evening Mail (Halifax, Nova Scotia)
Tuesday, 18 April 1911, p. 1, col. 4:

Will build New Parish Hall at Eastern Passage

The annual meeting of St. Peter's church, Eastern Passage, was held last night at the church, with Rev. D. Edwards, the rector, in the chair. The reports of the church officers, from nearly every standpoint, were very satisfactory. That of the treasurer showed a substantial balance to the credit of the church. The election of officers resulted as follows:

Wardens - James WHITE, George ROMKEY.

Vestrymen - Edward TRIDER, Alonzo NIEFORTH, William HIMMELMAN, Alexander DUNSWORTH,

Edward HORNE, Andrew CONRAD, St. Peter's congregation; George F. BOWES, William BOWES,

Henry CONRAD, Christ church congregation; John ELLIOT, Arthur GILES, Fred BISSETT, St. Andrew's congregation.

Secretary-treasurer - Simeon DUNSWORTH.

Delegates to Synod - Joseph HIMMELMAN, Wallace PEVERILL.

Substitutes - Henry CONRAD, George HORNE.

Considerable time was taken up with a discussion regarding the erection of a new parish hall near the church.

The present hall is almost a mile from the church and is not convenient for Sunday school and other church purposes.

It was decided to offer the present hall to the people of Eastern Passage if they desire to purchase it for a public hall. A public meeting will be held Monday night to consider the question. In case the people do not decide to purchase the hall it will be taken down and the frame and boards will be used in the construction of the new hall. In any event it is the intention of the congregation to erect a parish hall near the church during the summer.

During the winter the parishioners presented the rector with a handsome double-seated sleigh, a mark of esteem, which was much appreciated by the recipient.
