     Thomas Gilkerson was baptized on Jul 7, 1805.1 He was born circa 1814 in Vermont.2,3 He was the son of Thomas Gilkerson and Marion Somers.1

     Thomas married Janette Strobridge, daughter of Ebenezer Hinds Strobridge and Elizabeth Kerr Harvey.1

     Thomas and Janette appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Barnet, Caledonia County, Vermont, enumerated Aug 23, 1850, with their children Meroe, Elizabeth, Amelia and Curtis. Also in the house was George Cummings.2

     Thomas and Janette appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Wilton, Will County, Illinois, enumerated Jul 13, 1860, with their children Meroe, Elizabeth, Amelia, Curtis, Jessie and Orrin. Also in the house was farm hand Jacob Lewis.3
