     John married Catherine McLaren, daughter of John McLaren and Jean Waddell, on Mar 30, 1820.1,5

     John and Catherine appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Barnet, Caledonia County, Vermont, enumerated Aug 24, 1850, with their children Jane, Flora and Catherine. Also in the house was John's sister-in-law Sarah Jane Eames and her children Sarah and Warren.3

     John and Kate appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Barnet, Caledonia County, Vermont in the household of his daughter and son-in-law, Flora and Andrew Button.2 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of in the household of his daughter Flora.4

     John died on Apr 29, 1877 at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 20 days.1,7,8 He was buried in Barnet Center Cemetery, Barnet.7,8
