William married Janet Buchanan, daughter of John Buchanan, on Jan 26, 1804.1

William and Janet appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Barnet, Caledonia County, Vermont, enumerated Aug 31, 1850, with their son John.2

This man and another William Somers in this site have data in common. One source, History of Barnet, Vermont, pages 610 (son of Claud) and 619 (son of John), is especially exasperating - it shows two men named William Somers; they have different fathers but the same birth date and place, and each with a wife of the same name. Clearly, one or both of these entries is wrong. Another source, History of Ryegate, Vermont, page 529, agrees, in part, with the William Somers entry on page 619 of the Barnet book, and lists the same children as those shown on page 610 in the Barnet book. I have chosen not to record the children of the William listed on page 529 of the Ryegate book, as they are virtual duplicates of those listed for the William on page 610 of the Barnet book.

Any help resolving the conflicting data would be appreciated.
