     James Sommers Gilkerson was born on Jul 18, 1862 in Québec.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Walker Minor Gilkerson and Prudence Thayer Somers. He was baptized on Oct 29, 1862 at the Congregational Church in Sherbrooke.1

     He appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Sherbrooke, North Ward, Sherbrooke, Québec in the household of his parents.2

     James emigrated to the United States in 1881.3,4

     James married Anna E. Donahue on Oct 3, 1888.5,3,4

     James and Anna appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, enumerated Jun 13, 1900, with their children Ralph and Ruth.3

     James and Anna appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, enumerated Apr 27, 1910, with their children Ralph, Ruth, Fredrick and Loraine.4

     James died before Jan 16, 1920.6
