     Walker Minor Gilkerson was born on Dec 26, 1817 in the United States.3,1,2,4,5,6 He was the son of John Gilkerson and Elizabeth Minor.1,2

     Walker married (1st) Harriet Susannah Somers, daughter of Robert Somers and Harriet Almeda Sheldon, on Jan 21, 1841 at the Congregational Church in Sherbrooke. The marriage was performed by Jas Robertson. Witnesses were Harriet's brother Elijah Somers, and Catherine Carlin.7,8,1

     Walker, widower, married (2nd) Prudence Thayer Somers, daughter of Robert Somers and Harriet Almeda Sheldon, on Nov 12, 1846 at the Methodist Church in Compton. The marriage was performed by Benjamin Slight, and was witnessed by E. Slight and M. A. Lane.9,8

     Walker and Prudence appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census of Orford township, Sherbrooke, Canada East (Québec). Listed with them were Walker's daughter Jane, and Walker and Prudence's children Ambrosine and Lawrence.4

     Walker and Prudence appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Sherbrooke, North Ward, Sherbrooke, Québec with their children Clarence, Willard, Marion, James, William and Solomon.5

     Walker died on May 3, 1897 in Sherbrooke at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 7 days.3,6,10 He was buried from the Presbyterian church serving Sherbrooke on May 7, 1897 at Elmwood Cemetery in Sherbrooke. William Shearer performed the service in the presence of C. L. Gilkerson and W. S. Gilkerson.3,6,10
