     Mary M. Madden was born on Aug 14, 1870 in Bedford, Ohio.1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of Charles Madden and Mary C. Johnson.1

     She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York in the household of her parents.1

     Mary married William E. Van Velsor, son of Edward Van Velsor and Jane A. Palmer, on Apr 3, 1894 in New York. The marriage was performed by Chas. E. Miller. Witness was Betsey Jones.4,2

     Mary and William appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of 1489 Broadway, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings County, New York, enumerated Jun 14, 1900, with their children Reginald, Edward, Ruth and Naomi. This census shows there were 5 children, with 4 still living.2

     Mary died on Dec 20, 1901 in Brooklyn at the age of 31 years, 4 months and 6 days; at home.3,5 She was buried on Dec 23, 1901 in Flushing Cemetery, Flushing.3,5
