     J. Louis Holtzermann was born on Aug 4, 1849 in Piqua, Ohio.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Jacob Daniel Holtzermann and Johanna L. Dettmer.

     J. Louis was not found in the 1850 census, but his "brother" Justice, who was born c 1849 in Ohio, was enumerated in 1850 with J. Louis's parents. It is possible they are the same person.5

     He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Piqua, Miami County, Ohio in the household of his parents.3 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Piqua, Miami County, Ohio in the household of his parents.2

     J. Louis married F. W. (?).4

     J. Louis and F. W. appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Piqua, Miami County, Ohio, enumerated Jun 1, 1880. Also in the household was Alas Shields, servant.4

     J. Louis died in Feb, 1883 at the age of 33 years and 5 months.6,7 He was buried on Feb 4, 1883 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua.7
