     Jacob Daniel Holtzermann was born on Oct 22, 1808 in Hanover, Germany.1,2,3,4,5,6,7 He was the son of Heinrich Eberhard Holtzermann and (?) Menke.

     At the age of 27, Jacob married Johanna L. Dettmer on Sep 18, 1836 in Ohio.2

     Jacob appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Piqua, Washington Township, Miami County, Ohio. Also in the household were one male "under 5", one male "70 & under 80", one female "under 5" (probably his daughter Elise), one female "30 & under 40" (probably his wife Johanna) and one female "70 & under 80".5

     Jacob and Johanna appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Piqua, Washington Township, Miami County, Ohio, enumerated Aug 10, 1850, along with their children Elise, August, Georgena, Georg, Louise and Justice and their nephew Heinrich L. Koehne. Also in the household were E. G. Dettmer and Catharine Holtzerm__.7

     Jacob and Johanna appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Piqua, Miami County, Ohio, enumerated Jun 4, 1860 with their children August, Minna, Georg, Louise, Georgeanna, Helene E. and J. Louis. Also in the household was Amelia Holtzermann.4

     Jacob and Johanna appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Piqua, Miami County, Ohio, enumerated Jul 15, 1870, along with their children Georg, J. Louis, Minna and Helene E.. Also in the house was Augusta Basch, domestic.3

     Jacob and Johanna appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Piqua, Miami County, Ohio, enumerated Jun 1, 1880 with their grandson Gagg W. Holtzermann. Also in the household were Henry Sacsower and Malinda Fesler, servants.6

     Jacob died in Mar, 1884 at the age of 75 years and 4 months.8 He was buried on Apr 1, 1884 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua.8
