     Helena Ermina Oughtred was born on Aug 28, 1853 in Ascot, Québec.1,2,3,4,5 She was the daughter of Robinson Oughtred and Dorothy Malvina Stevens.2 Helena was baptized on Jul 26, 1874 in Lennoxville, from the Wesleyan Methodist church in Sherbrooke.2

     Helena married Edwin Jackson Brooks, son of Charles Brooks and Sally Abbott, on Mar 14, 1876 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Lennoxville.1

     Helena and Edwin appeared with their children Charles, Harry and Allen on the 1881 Canadian Census of Lennoxville, Sherbrooke, Québec in the household of Edwin's parents, Sally and Charles Brooks.3

     Helena and Edwin appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Indian Head, Assiniboia East, The Territories, enumerated Apr 26, 1901, with their children Harry A., Allan O., Edwin S, Murray G., H. Elizabeth, Ernest E., W. Arthur, Mary D. and Sarah E., Edwin's cousin Louisa Stevens, and domestics Arthur Burrill and John Burrill.5

     Helena died on Jul 8, 1945 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 10 days.4 She was buried in Indian Head, Saskatchewan.4
