     George Washington Brooks was born circa Jan 5, 1796 in Worcester, Massachusetts.1,2,3 He was the son of Samuel Brooks and Anne Bedel.1

     He was a merchant in Sherbrooke and a farmer in Capelton.1

     George married (1st) Eunice Flagg.1

     George married (2nd) Rebecca J. Flagg.1,4

     George and Rebecca appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census of Ascot township, Sherbrooke, Canada East (Québec). Listed with them were their children Alphonzo, Sarah, Charles, Mary, Lucinda, Elizabeth, Adaline, George, Emma, James, William, John, Henry and Libby. One more person, Charles Brooks, school teacher, age 23, is listed as an absent member residing in Shipton.2

     George died on Apr 27, 1879.1,3 He was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Sherbrooke, Québec.1,3
