     Ellen Brooks Sanborn was born on Jan 7, 1850 in Sherbrooke, Québec.3,4,1 She was the daughter of John Sewall Sanborn and Eleanor Hall Brooks.2

     She appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census of Orford township, Sherbrooke, Canada East (Québec) in the household of her parents.3

     At the age of 29, Ellen married Henry D. Lawrence on Oct 15, 1879 at the Congregational Church in Sherbrooke.5,2

     Ellen and Henry appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke, Québec in the household of Ellen's brother Samuel.4

     They appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of 3 Bellevue Avenue, Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke County, Québec, enumerated Apr 11, 1901, with their children Helen, Henry and Kate. Also in the house were Ellen's half-sister Mary Abigail and Mrs. J. M. Brown, domestic.1
