     Richard Dalby Morkill was born on Aug 26, 1818 in Bardsey, Yorkshire in England.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Thomas Morkill and Elizabeth Dalby.1 He was baptized on Nov 13, 1818 in Bardsey.1

     Richard emigrated to Sherbrooke, Québec in 1836.1

     Richard married Luvia Doolittle Osgood, daughter of Alexander Osgood and Maria Loisa Pattee, on Jun 2, 1845 at the Episcopal Church in Ascot.6,1

     Richard and Luvia appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census of Ascot township, Sherbrooke, Canada East (Québec). Listed with them were their daughters Ruperta and Maria.3

     Richard, widower, appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Sherbrooke, Centre Ward, Sherbrooke, Québec with his children George, James, John, Nelson and William, and daughter-in-law Mary Louisa LeBaron. Also in the household were Anne Banon and Sarah Bartelett.4

     Richard died circa Feb 5, 1900 in Sherbrooke.1,5 He was buried in St. Peter's Cemetery, Sherbrooke.5
