He was married to Alice Agnes Byers on Sep 2 1924 in Carlisle, PA. Eber and Alice spent the first seven years of marriage in Orlando, Florida and Eber worked as a carpenter. In 1931 they returned to Carlisle. Eber built his own home in 1935 in which they lived until going to Messiah Village in 1983.
Eber operated a dairy until about 1942 when it was closed due to some suspicious contamination of the milk. He and Alice opened Lehman Children's Store in Carlisle in 1944 which then became Lehman's Fashions until it was sold in 1969. Alice was a co-owner and operator of the business. Eber and Alice spent one year, 1971-72, at Macha in Zambia, Africa where Eber supervised building a number of school buildings.

Both Eber and Alice were very active in the Carlisle BIC church. Eber was a long time deacon and trustee of the church. Children were: Robert Byers Lehman, Dale Byers Lehman, Doris Ann Lehman, Ruth Anna Lehman.

Linda Cheney met Orai at Bartlesville Wesleyan College. She grew up on a Nebraska farm as one of ten children, three of whom became Wesleyan missionaries to South Africa. Orai and Linda were married in 1966 and graduated from Bartlesville Wesleyan College with B.A. degrees in religion in 1967. They left in 1968 to be missionaries in Swaziland. During their years of working with the gold miners in Johannesburg, they had the privilege to minister to men from Mozambique. After the conclusion of the civil war, they were able to move to Mozambique in 1995 to engage in church planting and leadership development. She was married to David Wayne Cassel Ph.D. on Jul 2 1960 in BIC Church, Carlisle, PA. After the wedding Wayne and Ruth went immediately to Syracuse for summer teaching duties and further graduate work. Wayne interupted his graduate program for two years to teach at Messiah College beginning the fall of 1962. Moving back to Syracuse, Wayne finally finished his Ph.D. in Mathematics in January 1967. We then moved back to Mechanicsburg and Messiah College and built our house in the summer of 1967. Children were: Cynthia Lynne Cassel, Kevin Wayne Cassel Ph. D., Susan Joy Cassel.
