Will dated 20 Jan 1777 "being sick and weak in body ..."; probated 27 Jul 1779 Easton; Inventory; wife extrx; life estate in stone house and moveable effects, plus ten Pounds and the Cow to wife, Christina; remainder to their five named children. Leaves the tools of his trade to his three sons, Henry, George and John. All names written with English spellings in Will. Henry's signed first name appears at bottom of first page to authenticate it. Witnessed by Christian Bittenbender, Peter Ealer and Jacob Grotz Junior. Testimony acknowledged on 27 Jul 1779 by John Arndt, Reg.
Buried: Cemetery for German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Easton, (now St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Congregation) N.W. cor. of Fourth and Ferry Sts. Removed to Easton Cemetery 1870 when school built on the cemetery site. Markers not found for Johann & Christina.

He married EVA ELIZABETH HOFFMAN 13 December 1779 in Easton, Northampton Co, Pennsylvania, daughter of JACOB HOFFMAN and MARIA EVA. She was born 06 June 1762, and died 1850 in Sidney, Ohio.
Notes for HENRY BUSH:
Enlisted Easton, PA 9 Jul 1776 on 22nd birthday. Private in Capt. John Arndt's Company; taken prisoner Long Island with several thousand others; held on prison ships in N.Y. harbor; freed five months later [many were released on 12-9-1776 in an exchange of prisoners]. Drafted for two months as an Ensign in Indian expedition 15 Jun 1780, Capt. John Van Etten's Co., Northampton Co.l, Militia. Sent to Delaware Twp, now Pike Co. to protect against Indian raids. Most on this duty were assigned to guard tower stations. Many were killed in a battle on September 11. [Probably crossed his future home site.] House carpenter.
Moved to Middle Smithfield about 1790.
Tombstone, front center, Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, "In Memory of Henry Bush who was born 9 Jul 1754, and departed this life 7 Jul 1832 Aged 77 yrs, 11 mos 28 days." Rev. War marker. OHN C. BUSH:Note in "Inscriptions from the Cemetery of the Presbyterian Church at Middle Smithfield," by Mrs. Horace G. Walters, states that John C. Bush was a veteran of the War of 1812. National Archives could not locate a record of such service.
Built and operated "Liberty House" hotel near Craig's Meadows. "Liberty House" is shown in 1915 photo, The Bells of Progress, Hughes Printing, p 125. "Mr [W.L.] Fehr has had the house several years, owns the property which consists of a fair-sized farm in connection and the building known as the 'Liberty House', a popular wayside Inn." John C. Bush purchased this 40 acre parcel on June 10, 1829 for $800 from Henry and Elizabeth Dills of Stroud Twp., Deed Book F, Vol. 5, p. 64 Northampton Co. Records.
