Some Selected Reports from The Windsor and Eton Express
18th February 1837
On Tuesday a dinner was given at Salthill by the gentlemen and farmers who are in the habit of hunting with the Royal Stag Hounds, to
Mr Charles Davis; his Majesty's huntsman.
Mr. Trumper took the chair, and the evening passed off in the
most harmonious manner, the proceedings being much enlivened by the singing of Messrs.
Fitzwilliam,
Robinson and
Young.
Infants Schools
- On Monday, a meeting of the friends of the Infant's Schools of Windsor took place at the School-Room, the
Rev. I. Gosset in the chair. The children underwent an examination , which
proved highly satisfactory, and most gratifying to the ladies and gentlemen who were assembled. Various resolutions in favour of the institution - one of the most pleasing and valuable in Windsor - were entered into, after which the meeting broke up.
Mr. Bird finished a course of Lectures on Astronomy, at Eton College, on Thursday last, which were most numerously attended, and the audiences appeared highly gratified. We understand
Mr. Bird intends to lecture in Windsor very shortly.
