In the name of God Amen . The eighte and twentith daye of Julye one thonsand sixe hundreth and tenne.And in
the eighte yere of the raigne of our soveraigne Lorde James by the grace of god Kinge of England France and
Irelande And of Scotlande the thxee and fortith , I Thomas Spanswick of Lynte in the p[ar]ishe of Coulshill in the
Dvoces[?] of Sarum being of p[er]fitt memorye thanckes be geven to Allmightie god,doe make and ordyne this
my laste will and Testamente in maner and forme followinge. First I bequeathe my soule into the hand of
allmighte god and my bodie to the earthe from whenee it firste came assuredly hopinge and steadfastlye
beleveinge that by the deathe and passion of my Lorde and Saviour Juesus Christe to have remission and
forgevenes of all my Synnes And as touchinge my Wordlie goodes which it hath pleased the Lorde to have
bestowed uppon me . I doe dispose of them as followeth. Item I give to the Cathedrall Churche of Sap[Sarum] iiijd
[4 pence] to the p[ar]ishe Churche of Coulshill aforsaid xijd [12 pence] Item I geve to the moste pooreste and
nediest people of Coulshill afor saide iijs iiijd [3 shillings 4 pence] Item I geve unto my Cozen Richard Spanswick
of Alborne xs[10 shillings] Item I geve unto my Cozen Robert Spanswick the sonne of William Spanswick late of
Bissoppes towne [Bishopstone] xs [10 shillings] . Item I geve to my Cozen John Spanswick the son of my Brother
John Spanswick xs[10 shillings] Item I give to my Daughter Katherine Boulton one Standinge bed furnished ,
beinge the bedd I doe nowe lye on . Also I geve unto her my best brasse panne , Twentie Shillinges in monye ,
A table boorde and frame standmge in my Shalle[?] my greateste brasse potte one skore [20] of Chalver Tegges**
of the __ele sorte of my Tegges . Item I give to my Grandaughter Alice Boulton one Cowe,a brasse panne next
unto the best and six Ewes of the yonger sorte , being the best of these sorte.Item I give to my Brother John
Spanswick xs[10s] Item I give to my Cozyn Thomas Oram , Smythe xxs[20s] Item I give to my Servante Joan
Tydiard two sheepe. Item I give to my Servante Thomas Jacobbe nine[?] Ewes of the midle sorte of my Sheepe,
also I do geve unto him my Black mare Item I give unto Thomas Jacobb and Richard Jacobb sonnes of my said
Servante Thomas Jacobb tp eache of them one heickfer* of a yere oulde and upwardes , foure Ewes apece and
theire lambes. Item I geve unto my Servante Agnes Willor vj xiijs iiijd [£6-13s-4d] and the bead furnished shee
nowe lyeth. Item I geve to John Spanswick sonne of my cozen Thomas Spanswick vj xiijs iiijd and the Coulte of
the black mare. Item I geve unto the two Daughters of my Coson Thomas Spanswick to each of them iij vjs viijd
[£3-6s-8d] apece. And wheras I have hertofore by convayance lawfully executed under my hande and seale ,
geven unto my saide Cosen Thomas Spanswick all my Landes tenementes and hereditamentes in ShoghWorthe
in the Countie of Wiltes[hire] nowe in the occupacion of my Brother John Spanswick my Will and meaninge ys
that the same shalbe and remayne unto him and his heires after my decease in suche in manner and forme in and
by the same convayance is expressed. And yf[if] any resorte shalbe herafter found[?] in the same convayance
wherby my said Cozen Thomas Spanswick and his heirs may not lawfully holde the same againste my right
heires . Then I doe hereby give and devise the same Landes , tenementes and hereditamentes and the reversion
and reversions of the same after my decease unto my saide Cozen Thomas Spanswick and to the heires of his
bodie lawfully begotton. And for wante of suche yssue , to my owne right heires forever . And I doe ordayne and
appoynte my said Cosen Thomas Spanswick _obt[?] thexecutor of this my laste will and testamente tose my
debtes and Legases paid and performed And after suche tyme as my said debtes and Legases and funerall
expences shalbe by him paide and discharged , Then all the reste of my goodes and Chattells whatsoever I doe
geve and bequeathe unto him. Also my Will ys that my Executor shall make deliverie of all the Cattels and
housholde stuffe herin formerlye geven wthin one month next after my decease. And for the Legases in monye ,
my will is that my Executor shall paye the same at thende of one halfe yere next after my decease. And I do
desire my lovinge friends Mr Edmonde Harrys , vicar of Coulshill Mr James Bloeridge[?] and Richard Wane to be
overseers of this my laste will and testamente desiring them to be aydinge and assistinge to my said Executor
what they maye in the due performance of the same accordinge to my trewe meaninge. And I do also hereby
revoke all former wills whatsoever at any tyme heretofore by me made . And do only allow this to be my laste will
and testamente . In witness whereof I have putto my Hande and Seale the daye and yere above writen.

A Codicell (anno ped/pal?) by the said Thomas Spanswick to his will ye first daye of June 1611 :- Item I geve unto
Thomas Jaces(?) and his wife , a stockbed , a paire of shetes , a Coverlett , a Blankett a boulster , a Brasse pott
and a katte(?)

** Tegg name given to a yearling sheep (OED)
"Dialect in Wiltshire" by Malcolm Jones and Patrick Dillon ,
mentions the word "chilver" which "is used to denote a new-born
female lamb at Sutton Veny, and such a lamb up to the time of its
first shearing at Neveravon and Fovant".
In the context above the words "Chalver Tegges" probably fit closely with the "Wiltshire" definition.
