In the name of God Amen I Roger Spanswick of Soley in the parish of Chilton Folliat in the County of Wilts yeoman being sick and weake in Body but of sound mind and perfect memory,thanks be to God doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner following (Vizt) I comend my Soule into the hands of Allmighty God and I comitt mu Body to the Dust , And as touching the things in this world Intrusted with me I dispose thereof as followeth . First I doe Give devise and bequeath All that my freehold Estate Situate lying and being in Upper Letcomb in the County of Berks,with all and singular the appurtences thereunto belonging unto my sone Roger Spanswicke and to the Heires of his Body lawfully to be begotton and for default of such Issue to my Two Daughters Mary Spanswick and Elizabeth Spanswick share and share alike for and during the Terms of their natural lives and after their deceases to the respective Heires of their Bodyes lawfully to be begotton and for want of such issue then I doe Give the same freehold Estate to my right Heires for Ever. Item I doe Give devise and Bequeathe All that my Leasehold Estate Situate lying and being in the parish of Pewsey in the said County of Wilts with all and singular the appurtences thereto belonging unto my daughter Mary Spanswick for and during all the time and Terme I have therein together with my Indenture of Lease thereof; Item I doe Give devise and Bequeathe All that my freehold Estate Situate lying and being in Edington in the parish of Hungerford in the County of Berks together with all and singular the appurtences thereto belonging unto my daughter Elizabeth Spanswick and to the Heires of her Body lawfully to be begotton And for default of such Issue I doe Give and Bequeath the same freehold Estate unto my sone Roger Spanswick and to my Daughter Mary Spanswick share and share alike for and during the Terms of their natural Lives And after their decease to the respective Heires of their Bodys lawfully to be begotton and for default of such Issue Then I doe Give and Bequeath the same freehold Estate in Edington aforesaid to my right Heires for Ever.And it is my Will that my Executors in trust herein after named shall take the profitts of all and singular my
aforesaid Estates untill my aforesaid three children shall respectively attaine the age of One and Twenty Yeares for the benefitt advantage and better maintainance and education of my Said Children , Item I doe Give devise and Bequeath unto my said daughter Mary Spanswicke foure Hundred pounds and to my said daughter Elizabeth Spanswick Three Hundred pounds to be paid unto them respectively when they shall respectively attaine the age aforesaid Then the said Money herin before gave to them them or either of them soe Dying shall be and remayne to the Survivors or Survivor of them my said Three Children share and share alike between them. And my Will further is that if my said Two Daughters or either of them shall Marry bofore they shall respectively attaine the age of One and Twenty Years without the consent and approbation of my Executors in Trust herein after named That then the said money herein before gave to them or either of them soe marrying as aforesaid shall be and remayne to such of my said Three children as my Executors in Trust herein after named shall think fitt And my Will further is that the said money herein before Gave to my said Two daughters shall be put forth at Interest by my said Executors in Trust for the benefitt and advantage of my said Two daughters and for their better maintainance and education untill they shall respectively attaine the said age of One and Twenty yeares and if any part of the said money shall happen to be left at Interest by their putting forth the same my Will is my said Executors in Trust shall susteyne noe Loss or damage thereby but that such loss shall be boune by my said Two daughters share and share alike ; Item I doe forgive unto my said Brother Thomas Spanswicke all such money as he doth owe me on Bond or otherwise;Item I doe Give unto my said Brother Thomas Spanswicke One Shilling and to his nine children Two Shillings and six pence a peece; Item I doe Give to my nephew Thomas Spanswicke sonne of my Brother Thomas Spanswicke five shillings;Item I doe Give and Bequeath unto my nephew Roger Spanswicke sonne of my Brother John Spanswicke Tenn Shillings and to all the rest of my Brother John Spanswickes children Two Shillings and Six pence a peece;Item I doe Give and Bequeath unto my maidservant Katherine Rawlings Five pounds;Item I doe Give and Bequeath unto the Poore of the parish of Chilton Folliat the summe of to be distributed to such poore persons of the said parish as my Executors in Trust herein after named shall think fitt;Item I doe Give devise and Bequeath all the rest and residue of my Goods and Chattells whatsoever reall and personall moveable and unmoveable (after my debts paid my funeral expenses discharged and this my last will performed and fulfilled) unto my said sonne Roger Spanswicke and I doe make him my said sonne Roger Spanswicke Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament . And I doe hereby make Ordaine and appoint my Two Brothers John Spanswicke and Simon Spanswicke and my Two Brothers in Law Robert Batt and John Cox Executors in Trust of this my last Will and Testament desireing the same duly and truly performed and for their pains therein to be taken I doe Give to each of them five pounds a peece. And I doe hereby revoke and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me made and this is to be taken for my last Will and Testament and none other .
