Will of Ellen Spanswick of Bath (1887)





This is the last Will and Testament of me Ellen Spanswick of the City of Bath Widow. I direct that my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be fully paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease . I give and bequeath the sum of Twenty pounds unto my son Alfred Spanswick at present a patient at Colney Hatch Lunatic Asylum provided he shall at the time of my decease have recovered form his mental derangement and be well enough to be discharged but in case he shall not by than have recovered I give the same unto and equally between and amongst his children . I give and bequeath all my wearing apparel and jewellery to my daughter Maria Woodham absolutely And as to the rest of the residue of my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever amongst my son William Spanswick and my said daughter Maria Woodham absolutely. And I appoint Charles Hooper of 6 Fountain Buildings in the City of Bath and John Arthur Wyndham Ricketts of 26 Grosvenor in the same City Gentlemen Executors of this my last Will hereby revoking all former or other Wills by me at anytime heretofore made . In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of March One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Seven.

Signed by the said Ellen Spanswick the Testator as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us both present at the same time who at her request in her presenceand in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

Proved at Bristol the Thirteenth day of October 1887 by the Oaths of Charles Hooper and John Arthur Wyndum Ricketts the Executors to whom Administration ws granted. The Testator Ellen Spanswick was late of Elm Grove Villa , Lanedown Road in the City of Bath Widow and died on the Twenty sixth day of September 1887 at Manor House , Everleigh (near Marlborough) in the County of Wilts.
