Winchester,

E.Crucefix most respectfully acquaints her Friends and the Public in general, she will return from London on Friday November the 5th, and open for their inspection a fashionable and elegant Assortment of Millinery and Dresses, consisting of Pelisses, Spencers, Mantles, and an entirely new article for Dresses.

N.B. Two Apprentices wanted. A premium will be expected, as they will be treated the same as the family.




S.Groombridge, Milliner and Dress-Maker, most respectfully informs the Ladies of Winchester and its neighbourhood, that she is just returned from London, with an elegant Assortment of Millinery, selected from the most fashionable houses, and will be ready for inspection on Thursday the 11th instant, and the following days. S.G. returns grateful thanks to her Friends and the Public in general, for the liberal support she has met with.

Winter Dresses, Millinery, &c.

Mrs.Woollven respectfully informs her friends and the public, that she will have for their inspection (on Wednesday the 10th inst.) a general Assortment of Articles, adapted to the present Season, which will have been selected (by her Assistant) from the most fashionable Houses in London - Andover, Nov.6, 1813.




Mr.Crawcour, Surgeon Dentist, from 46, Strand, London, informs the Nobility and Gentry of Salisbury, that he will pass through that city, on his way to Exeter. His stay in Salisbury will be two days. All orders must be left with the Printers of this Paper.




All Persons having any Claim or Demands on the Estate of Mrs.Anne Courtenay, late of Winchester, deceased, are desired to send an account thereof to Mr.Lampard, of Winchester, solicitor, one of her Executors, in order that the same may be examined and discharged; and all persons indebted to her Estate are requested immediately to pay the same to Mr.Lampard.




To Debtors and Creditors.

All Persons having any demand on the Estate and Effects of the late Mr.Thomas Carver, senior, of Ringwood, deceased, are desired immediately to send the account thereof to Mrs.Carver, of Ringwood, executrix, in order that the same may be investigated and discharged; and all persons indebted to the same Estate are requested to pay the same to the said Mrs.Carver, on or before the 1st of December next.

To the Creditors of John Barnes.

Notice is hereby given, that the Assignees of the Estate and Effects of John Barnes, of Bridzor, in the county of Wilts, Yeoman, will meet at the Boot Inn, Tisbury, in the said county, on Friday the 12th day of November instant, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, to make a first Dividend of the Proceeds of his Estate. - All Creditors who have not delivered in an account of their debts, and executed the Trust Deed, are requested to attend at the above time and place to do so, or they will be excluded from the benefit of the Dividend.

Peter Graham's Bankruptcy.

The Commissioners in a Commission of Bankrupt, awarded and issued forth against Peter Graham, of Wimborne Minster, in the county of Dorset, Paper-Maker, dealer and chapman, intend to meet on the 3d day of December next, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, at the New Inn, in Wimborne Minster, aforesaid, in order to make a Final Dividend on the Estate and Effects of the said Bankrupt; when and where the Creditors, who have not already proved their debts, are to come prepared to prove the same, or they will be excluded from the benefit of the said Dividend; and all claims not then proved will be disallowed.

Whereas a Commission of Bankrupt is awarded and issued against John Webb, of the city of New Sarum, in the county of Wilts, Brandy Merchant, and he being declared a Bankrupt, is hereby required to surrender himself to the Commissioners in the said Commission named, or the major part of them, on the sixth day of November next, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon; on the eighth day of November next, at one o'clock in the afternoon; and on the fourth day of December next, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, at the Public Rooms in the said city of New Sarum, and make a full discovery and disclosure of his Estate and Effects, when and where the Creditors are to come prepared to prove their debts, and at the second sitting to chose assignees, and at the last sitting the said bankrupt is required to finish his examination, and the Creditors are to assent or dissent from the allowance of his Certificate.

All persons indebted to the said Bankrupt, or that have any of his Effects are not to pay or deliver the same but to whom the Commissioners shall appoint, but to give notice to Mr.Tinney, solicitor, Salisbury; or to Messrs.Brindull and Co. Temple.

Winchester.
Saturday, November 6.

A very respectable and full Meeting of the Committees for the Deaneries of Basingstoke and Alton, in aid of the Society of promoting Christian Knowledge, took place at Alton on Tuesday last - There were present, the Right Honourable Lord Bolton, W.Chute, Esq. M.P., G.Purefoy Jervoise, Esq. M.P. , Admiral Halstead, Wither Bramston, J.Blackburn, W.L.Sclater, S.Terry, W.Lee, J.Lee, R.Norris, J.H.Baverstock, H.Digweed, W.F.Digweed, E.Woolls, Esquires, &c &c. and a very considerable number of clergy of both deaneries. A most satisfactory report of the proceedings of the committees was read, several resolutions, calculated to promote the interests of the society were unanimously agreed to, and many new subscriptions to the Parent and District Societies were added. We are happy to learn that the activity which has prevailed in these deaneries is diffusing itself through the country.

On Tuesday last was married, in the parish church of Gatcombe, Isle of Wight, by the Rev.Henry Goddard, A.M. the Rev.George Rashleigh, A.M. to Miss Worsley, eldest daughter of the Rev.Dr.Worsley, Rector of Gatcombe.
Friday the 29th ult.died, at West Cowes, in the Isle of Wight, Mrs.Birch, wife of the Rev.Richard Birch, Rector of Waddington, in Essex, and sister of the Rev.Sir Henry Bate Dudley, Bart.

Committed to the County Gaol :- John Martin, charged with stealing an ewe lamb, at Fawly Chamberlain, the property of James Fish; and Philip Batchelor (a deaf and dumb man), charged with privately stealing, in the day-time, from the dwelling-house of Thos.Perry, at Christchurch, property to the value of forty shillings.




Southampton, Nov.5.

On Sunday last Sermons were preached, in the morning, afternoon, and evening, (by the Rev.Thomas Adkins, at the Chapel Above Bar,) for the benefit of the Children instructed in the Town and Village Schools established by the Southampton Sunday School Society. This society has under its immediate superintendance and support twelve schools, in which 600 children are actually receiving instruction every Sabbath-day. A very liberal collection was made.

On Tuesday last was married Mr.John Witt to Miss Chesser, both of this town.
On Tuesday last died, in this town, Mrs Mary Pollen, sister of Sir John Pollen, Bart. of Redenham, in this county.
Same day died, after a short illness, aged about 70 years, Mr.Matthias Woodyear, formerly a Collector of Salt Duties.
A few days since, a man of the name of Bloomfield fell out of the window of a hay-loft, and fractured his scull severely, but hopes are entertained of his recovery.

Monday, November 8, 1813.

The Reverend George Cox, of Hawksworth, Herts, is appointed Chaplain to the Earl of Scarborough.

The paragraph copied from our last from another paper, stating that Sir John Brigges, Bart, was apprehended at Bath, on a charge of embezzling King's stores, was incorrect; the person apprehended was John Briggs, late mate of the Tortoise, charged with stealing a cask of silver from the vessel.

Tuesday last was married, by the Hon.and Rev.Edward Seymour, Peter Awdry, Esq. of Seend, in this county, to Eliza, youngest daughter of the late Anthony Guy, of Chippenham.
Same day was married, at Stockton, by the Rev.Henry Good, the Rev.Wm.Wapshare, of the Close, to Cooth Anna, daughter of the late Wm.Austin, Esq. of Ensbury, in the county of Dorset.
On Wednesday last was married Mr.Charles Blake, youngest son of John Blake, Esq. of Ford, near this city, to Ann, eldest daughter of Mr.Edward Towzey, of Idmiston.
On Thursday last was married, by the Rev.Mr.Bromley, Mr.Wm.Page, of Bulford, to Miss T.Hibberd, of Bishopstone.
On Sunday the 24th ult.died, at Bourton, greatly lamented by her family and friends, Mrs Maggs, wife of Mr.James Maggs, of that place. She was taken ill as she was going to church, and died six hours afterwards.
On the 29th ult.died, at Barnstaple, at a very advanced age, Lady Wrey, relict of the late General Sir Bouchier Wrey, of Tawstock-house, Devon.
On Monday last died, at Nether Compton, Dorset, the Rev.John Culliford Goodden, L.L.B. Rector of that parish and Over Compton, and vicar of Botherhampton, in the same county.
Same day died, at his house on the Queen's-parade Bath, in his 80th year, William Evelyn, Esq. of St.Clere, Kent, who sat 34 years in Parliament for Hythe.
On Friday last died, in the prime of life, deservedly lamented, Mrs.Tucker, wife of Mr.Tucker, Master of Tilshead Academy, in this county. She has left a disconsolate husband and nine children to deplore her loss.
Same day died, at Blandford, after a lingering illness, Miss C.Hill, daughter of the late Mr.John Hill, of Tarrant Hinton, in the county of Dorset.

On Tuesday last an inquest was taken at Donhead, by Mr.Whitmarsh, on view of the body of John Bugden, who was found hanged in a stable in that parish. The Jury returned a verdict of Lunacy.

Hunting Intelligence . - Mr.Farquharson's Fox Hounds will meet next week as follows :- Monday, at the Somersetshire Holts; Tuesday, at Melcomb Park; Thursday, at Sydling barn; Saturday, at Warren-hill, near Beaminster.




Weymouth, Nov.6.

Nothing could exceed the enthusiastic joy with which the news of the downfall of the tyrant Buonaparte was received at this place by all ranks. In celebration of this glorious event, there was a grand military ball and supper last evening at the King's Head Hotel, in a style of elegance and profusion worthy of the occasion, which were most fashionably attended by the principal inhabitants. The limits of our paper will not allow us to particularize the names of the company present, but we cannot refrain from hearing the most honourable testimony to the zeal of R.Gordon, Esq. M.P., Major-General Jones, Charles Buxton, Esq., Captain Adams, (13th L.D.), and E.Henning, Esq. who composed the Committee for promoting this loyal entertainment.

This day Mr.Gordon gives a grand dinner to a large party of nobility and gentry at his elegant residence in Gloucester Row, in commemoration also of the happy news; and there is to be a brilliant display of fireworks in the evening.

Our worthy Representative, C.Idle, Esq. is just arrived.




Louisa Hill, Dress, Pelisse, and Corset Maker, begs to inform the Ladies of Blandford, and its vicinity, that she intends continuing the above Business, as carried on by her late Sister. She has conducted a House of the first respectability for the last three years, and respectfully assures them her endeavours shall be constantly used to deserve their patronage.
