On Saturday the 15th inst. died, Mr.James Smith, of this city, of the small pox. He had been vaccinated 10 years since, but it is evident that the cow-pox was not sufficiently incorporated with his system to render him secure from the attacks of the more fatal disease, which has terminated his existence. We know it has frequently happened, that a patient inoculated with the cow-pox has not really had the disease, and hence has arisen the vulgar prejudice that vaccination has not, in all instances, been a preservative from the small pox; when it certainly would, if proper vaccine matter were obtained, and due attention paid to the state of the patient.

On Saturday night the Stable of Mrs.Mariner was broken open and robbed of a bay mare, and a saddle; handbills were immediately issued, describing the mare, which was shortly after found by a person straying on Horten Heath, and brought home to the rightful owner, although with the loss of the saddle.
