Glasgow, Nov.16. This being the Day appointed by the Lords of the Justiciary for executing their Sentence against the Rioters, Hamilton, Buchannan, and M'Farlane, the Execution was accordingly performed, by whipping these three Persons about the middle of the Day, first before , Mr.Campbell of Shawfield his House, and there-after at the most publick Places of the principal Streets of this City, by the Hands of the common Hangman, in the manner directed by the Sentence: The Deputy Sheriff with his Substitute and their Officers wero present, and the Magistrates of this City, with their Officers; gave suitable Aid and Assistance; and not one Inhabitant, or other Person, did offer the least Disturbance.
Edinburgh, Nov. 23- Friday last the three Glasgow Rioters were brought back hither, and committed to the Tolbooth till an Occasion for Transportation, --- Last Week a Petition was offer'd in Favour of those of the Linlithgow People in Custody here, on Account of the late Disorders at the Election of Magistrates for that Burgh, praying to be try'd. The Libel against them sets forth, That Thomas Hunter Merchant, John Brice Maltman, Will.Bell of Aventoun, Edward Spence Taylor, Thomas Andrew Maltman, John Mackilfreish, Son to George Mackilfreish Cordiner, William and Hugh Duncans, Baxters, William Kellie Tanner, James Bread Thread-maker, John Cleland Constable, Robert Lang,Weaver, Thomas Ralton Cordiner, Alex. Adam Wright, William.Machry elder, Residenter, and Robert Forester, Servant to Alexander Bell; all of Linlithgow: Are all and each of them, or one or other of them, guilty Actors Art and Part of the Crimes of privy Conventions within Burgh, without Licence of the chief Magistrate, in Hinderance of the common Law, &c . and riotously and tumultously convocating themselves, assaulting the Person of the chief Magistrate; and wilfully and knowingly, with Force of Arms, opposing and obstructing those who began to read the Act: primo Georgii, for preventing Riots and tumultuous Assemblies, &c.. and continuing themselves, thus convocate, to the Number of 12[?] or more, after such Proclamation read, or endeavour'd to be read. And concludes, That the haill Persons above complain'd upon (the Facts being proven) ought to be punished with the Pain's of Law; at least declar'd. uncapable of publick Trust within Burgh, to forfeit their Burges-ship, and be otherwise punished in their Person and Goods, &c.
We hear but little of what pass'd in the Affair of the Beith Rioters, or that of the Maltsters of Aberdeen.

The Rose Man of War is sailed out of the Frith.

They write from Aberdeen, that their Principal, the Doctors, Professors, and Masters of King's College, have unanimosly conferr'd the Degree of Doctor in Physick upon Mr.Thomas Barham, of Cheshunt in Hertfordshire. Also that Doctor Fraizer's Buildings in the said College go on a pace; whereby it's hop'd other generous Friends may be excited to follow his laudable Example, in Acts of Beneficence to that Learned Body.

Dublin, Nov.22, A Daughter of the Bishop of Meath was lately, married to a Clergyman of his Lordship's Diocese. -- The House of Commons have order'd a Bill to be brought in for providing, that, no Person converted from the Popish Religion, whose Wife or Children should continue therein, shall be admitted to any Office or Employment, or be chose a Member of that. House, till seven Years afrer his Conversion.

From Yarmouth, in the Isle of Wight, That Mr.Huxley, a Commissioner of the Victualling, was likely to be chose their Representative in Parliament, without Opposition.
From Portsmouth, That a Gunner having robb'd his Comrade's Trunk of £11. 10s. was to be try'd for it by a Court-Marshal.
Norwich, Nov.27. Yesterday two Men were taken up on Pretence of False-Pollers for Mr.Churchman, at the late Election for an Alderman, but one of 'em was discharg'd immediately; the other was committed, notwithstanding he protested he never polled at all.
Bristol, Nov.28. Mrs.Crockram, an ancient Woman, in the Parish.of St.Michael, had the Misfortune to set her Apron on fire, which seizing her other Cloaths, it burnt her so that she died last Night.
From, North-Wilts, That some Time ago a Woman, who liv'd with a Baker as a.Servant, was deliver'd of two Bastard Children, which she laid to another Person, but afterwards left them to perish for want of Nourishment.
Somerton, Somersetshire, Nov.29. Last Week a poor miserable old Woman, said to be worth above £l000. that lived in a House by her self, three Mile from this Place, was knock'd in the Head by a Fellow who broke in at the Top of the House, thro' the Thatch, with Intent to rob her; but she not declaring where her Money lay, he killed her with a Cliff of Wood that lay in the Chimney corner. The Cries of the Woman being heard by a Neighbour, he got Assistance, and invested the House before the Rogue could escape; who being taken, was commited to Ilchester Goal.
Gloucester, Nov.27., Monday last being the Anniversary of St.Cecilia, the same was usher'd in with ringing of Bells; and at the Cathedral, in the Morning, was perform'd Dr.Croft's Te Deum, &c. from whence the Members of the Musick-Club proceeed to the Swan Inn, to celebrate their annual Feast, which was very great and splendid: And in the Afternoon was a fine Voluntary and Anthem at the Cathedral, and a Consort of Musick in the Evening at their Club-Room, which was honour'd with a great Number of Gentlemen and Ladies. We are inform'd the same was handsomly observed by the Gentlemen of Hereford and Worcester.
They write from Malmesbury in Wilts, that on Wednesday, the 17th past, Anne, the Wife of John Baily, of that Borough, was deliver'd of a Male Child, which hath five Fingers and a Thumb on each Hand, and six Toes on each Foot; and Sunday 21st it was baptiz'd by the Name of Humphrey: It is a very fine child, and likely to live.



LONDON December 4.

On Tuesday Morning dy'd a young Gentleman in Grange-Court in Lincoln's-Inn-Fields, who had cut his Throat some Days before, the Wound a was perfectly cur'd, he would take no Manner of Sustenance, so that he seem'd to be starv'd to Death: He was ty'd down to his Bed, and dy'd raving mad.
We hear that the Lady Lynn has had Fall from her Horse, as she was Hunting, which very much alarm'd the Family, and, twas fear'd, would be of ill Consequence; but, upon proper Applications, her Ladyship is perfectly recover'd.
We hear from Windsor; that a fine Monument is there erecting for Samuel Travers, Esq; late Treasurer to the Prince, who has left a large Endowment for 6 or 8 poor Knights, to be added to our Number, with a more plentiful Salary, and Money for building new Houses for this his Foundation.
Tuesday last Mr.Curl, the Bookseller, was cast at the King's Bench, upon two Informations against him, for publishing two vile and scandalous books; the one call'd De usu Flagrorum, and the other A poem in Praise of Drunkenness, or The Nun in her Smock.
The same Night, a Gentleman's Chair was stopp'd by some Rogues, coming up the Road from Gray's-Inn-Lane to Bedford-Row; but some people coming with Lights, the Rogues ran for it, without having got any Prey.
The Pacquet which went from Edinburgh on Saturday Night, the 20th past, was lost betwixt Berwick and Belford. A most diligent Search has been made, but neither the Boy, the Horse, nor the Pacquet have been yet heard of. The Boy, after Passing Goswick, having a Part of the Sands to ride, which divide the Holy-Island from the Main-Land, it is supposed he has missed his Way, being very dark, and rode toward the Sea, where he and his Horse have both perished.

Justice Kirby of Shadwell in the 84th Year of his Age. ---- Mr.Leonard, an eminent Vintner without Temple-Bar. --- Bell Jones, Esq; Secretary to the Office of Ordnance at the Tower.--- Mr.Purcel, House keeper and Valet de Chambre to his Royal Highness.- The Hon.Mr.Cecil, Minister of Hatfeild in Hertfordshire, a Living worth £1000. per Ann.-- Mr.Papillon of 'Hackney. worth £70.000. --- Mr.Robert Hulls, a rich Spanish Merchant, worth 20,000.- A Man dropp'd down dead under Bishopsgate.
The York Frigate of Bristol, bound from Holland to Philadelphia, having about 300 Palantines on board, was lost on the 4th of October, on a Sand in Delaware Bay in Pensylvania, but all the People were saved and Part of the Cargoe,
The Hannah and Mary, John Barrow Master. bound from Gottenburgh to London, founder'd at Sea, but a Vessel that was in Sight took up the People and carried them to Holland.

Andrew Doyle, Esq.; made Major to ColI.Lucas's Regiment of Foot. ---- Mr.Jones made a Clerk in the Treasury. --- Archibald Macdonald, Esq.; made Ensign in Captain Merccand's Independent Company.-- --- Fleming, Esq; made Brigadier and Lieutenant in the 2d Troop of Horse-Guards, commanded by the Earl of Hereford - ---, Price, Esq; made Sub Brigadier and Cornet in the said Troop. --- Roger Lawrence, Esq; made a Captain in Brigadier Groves's Regiment of Foot.----John Willes, Esq; one of his Majesty's Council, at Law, we hear, made a Welch Judge in the Room of Mr.Jefferies, deceased; --. and that Mr.Cockburn, Secretary to the Duke of Argyle, succeeds Bell Jones, Esq; in the Ordnance Office. - The Rev.Mr.Lucas chose Lecturer of St.George the Martyr, ---- Mr.Tho.Churchill, made Master Bricklayer of all his Majesty's Works, in the Room of Mr.Tho.Hughes, deceased. -- Henry Talbot, Esq; Son to the Bishop of Durham, married to a Daughter of Counsellor Clopton, of Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire; ---- Sir.Tho Masters, to the Widow of Mr.Rhodes, the rich Bookseller, --- Tho.Molineux of Wrrington in Lancashire, Esq. to Miss Collins, of Westminster.
Thursday a Messenger arrived from Hanover with Orders for the Guards to set out, his Majesty being to set forward as that Day, ---- The same Day the Lords Justices, the Council, and the Lords of the Admiralty, sat severally; and, 'tis said, Orders are given to have every Thing in Readiness for fitting out a Squadron on the first Notice, when there should be Occasion.
Duncan Forbes, Esq; his Majesty's Advocate for Scotland, and John Forbes, Esq; are set out for the Bath; from whence the Duke of Bolton and his Brother are gone to his Grace's Seat at Hackwood in Hampshire. ----- Sir Wm.Morgan is not in Town, as some Papers say, but at Uptonhold, in Gloucestershire.
On Tuesday two Men were try'd at- the Sittings in the Exchequer-Court, Westminster, for shipping off from Plymouth for France, a large Quantity of Virginia Tobacco at several Times, on which a Drawback was allow'd them; but relanding it afterwards privately, and so defrauding the Government of the said Drawback; and a Verdict went against them for £900.
Last Week the Church-Wardens, and some of the principal Inhabitants of St.Sepulchres Parish, together with some of the Gentlemen of the Hand-in-Hand Fire-Office, had a Meering in West- Smirthfield, in order to try a new Engine for extinguishing Fire, made on purpose for the said Parish, by Mr.Gray, Engine-Maker, at Mill-Bank, Westminster; the Performance of which was so wonderfully great, by throwing out a vast Quantity of Water in a continual stream, to such a prodigious Heighth and Distance, and with that great Force, as occasioned a general Approbation of all the Spectators; and, in the Opinion of several very good Judges, is not to be equall'd in Goodness with any other Engine of that Size, and is worked only by four Persons.

PROPOSALS for printing by Subscription sixeeen Prints of Shipping in CHIARO OSCURO, after the original Paintings of that celebrated Master William Vandervald. By E.KIRKALL. This Work will consist of Storms, Calms, Gales, Shipwrecks, Sea-Fights, Moon-Lights, Sea-Ports, &c. Collected from the Closets of the Curious, Each Plate will be 18 Inches by 13, fit for Frames and Glasses.
The good Success the Author has met with in his former Work of History, has encouraged him to proceed, at the Request of many Gentlemen, Painters, and Lovers of Art.
The Subscription is two Guineas, viz: one Guinea down, and half a Gmnea more when eight of the Prints are deliver'd, which will be in February next; the other half Guinea when the whole is delivered, which will be by Midsummer next. There are sevcral already done, and may be seen at the Author's in Wine Office Court, Fleet-Street, and at the following Places, where Subscriptions are taken in, viz.. Mr.King's at the Globe in the Poultrey; Mr.Glass's under the Royal-Exchange; Mr.Wildey's Toy-Shop the Corner of St.Paul's Church-Yard; Mr.Phil.Overron's and Mr.Tho.Taylor's Print-Shops in Fleet-Street; Mr.Regnier's in Newport-Street the End of Long-Acre; Mr.Hulton's the Corner of Pall-Mall; Mr.Fletcher Bookseller in Oxford; Mr.Ben.Cole Engraver in Bear-Lane, Oxford; Mr Thurlbourne and Mr.Crownfield Booksellers in Cambridge; Mr.Chaise Bookseller in Norwich.

A very good Inn, at Godstone in Surrey, on the Turnpike Road, known by the Sign of the White-Hart; with Brewhouse and other Conveniencies, and 102 Acres of Meadow and Arrable Ground, near adjoining, upon Lease of six Years to come; the Furniture of the Inn and Husbandry Tackling to be Sold: Inquire of Mr.Tho.Peto, at Rygate, Surrey, or of Mr.J.Richardson, at the Blue Boar's Head at St.Margarets-Hill.




Stoled or strayed, between. Tuesday Noon and Thursday Morning, the 21st and 23d of September last, out of Dr.Wickam's Grounds at Stratford near London a strong well made black Gelding, a large blaze down his Face Wall-ey'd, Hog-back'd, a whisk Tail, about fourteen Hands and a half high, used to draw. Whoever gives Notice where he is, or brings him to Dr.Wickam, as above, shall receive, if it be stray'd, two Guineas Reward, and, if stolen five Guineas, provided the Person that stole it be secured.




Whereas there was dropt in the Parish of St.Battholomew the Great London, on the 30th of October last, a small Infant suppos'd to be newly born; and on the 13th of November last; a Female Child, supposed to be about nine Months old, wrapp'd in a blue Stuff Woman's Gown, and had on a strip'd Stuff Coat of Red, Green and White: Any Person that can give Notice to the Church-Warden of the said Parish, who dropt either of the said Children, so that such Person or Persons be thereof convicted, shall be entitled to the Reward of forty Shillings, to be pad by the said Church-Warden.




WHEREAS it was some Time ago advertised in the Prints in the Year 1724, that James Watlington, of about 22 Years of Age, 5 Foot 3 Inches high, stooping in the Shoulders, pale Complexion, a very hoarse and slow Voice, then wearing a fair Wig, formerly Page to the Rt Hon. the Countess of Ranelagh, was gone off with 5 or £600. of the said Countess's Money, and a Reward was offered for apprehending him, but the said Watlington going beyond Sea, was never yet apprehended: Now the said Countess being informed that he is lately return'd to England, doth hereby promise, that if any Person shall apprehend the said Watlington within six Months after the Publication hereof, so that be may be brought to Justice, such Person shall receive of Mr.Wm.Luken, Goldsmith, at the Black-Moor's Head in the Strand, £50.




Nov.9, 1725. Lost a large brown Gelding, about 15 or 16 Hands high, dim-sighted, a short bob Tail, and a Star in his Forehead, stray'd or stole out of a Field between Bow and Old-Ford: Whoever brings the said Gelding to Thomas Hogg living at Bow, shall have a Guinea Reward, and reasonable Charges bore.




GAMALIEL VOICE, in Whalebone-Court, at the lower End of Bartholomew-Lane, Lothbury, near the Royal-Exchange, setteth in ARTIFICIAL TEETH in the most exact Manner, which are so fitted and set in, that they may be taken out and put in again by the Persons themselves, and are not to be discern'd from the Natural; they not only preeerve the Speech, but also preserve the Teeth next to them from loosening or falling out; but those who have Stumps to set them on, may, with the greatest Security depend upon it, that they will anewer the Ends of natural teeth.

N.B. He sells and mends Watches of all Sorts.

AT Thomas Rawlinson's near Whitechappel Bars, and at Allen Cowper's[?], at the sign of the Tallow-Chandler against Whitechappel Church, is sold the best Tallow-Candles, not inferior to any, at. five Shillings, and two Pence per Dozen.

AT the Dove and Golden Ball in Salisbury Court, Fleet-street, liveth a Gentlewoman that prepares the most excellent Cosmetick or Beautifiers yet known, as that most noble Preparation of Pearl, with a particular beautifying Fluid, both which used by Ladies of the first Quality; they, with Surprize, take away Redness, Pimples, Roughness, Worms, Morphew, Scurf, Sun-burn, Freckles, Wrinkles, Pits of the Small-Pox, with other Defilements of the Skin. Likewise she prepares a fine Italian Cream for the Face Neck and Hands, which plumps and smooths the Skin to Admiration ; the Nuns White-Pots. and Tower-Street Pots, with an East India Chinese Red Liquor, none having the Secret but herself: It gives a most natural and lasting Blush, that no Perron can distinguish when on the Face, and not to be rubb'd off. Also to be had, the red Crown Cakes, White-Paste, or Cakes for the face, or Hands, and all other Cosmeticks formerly sold here by Mrs.Hodde. N.B. She has a chymical Liquor which alters red or grey Hair to a light or dark Brown.
