A Short List of my some of my "Most Wanted" Newspapers etc
Over the last ten years or so I've built up quite a reasonable collection of 18th and 19th Century Local Newspapers, but there are some gaps which I'd like to fill. I'd be especially interested to hear of examples of Burniston's Northern Luminary (1849 - 1853), the Reading Mercury (1723 - 1840); the Bolton Chronicle(1825 - 1860); and the Salisbury and Winchester Journal (1738 - 1800).
And should anyone who has collected any 18th and early 19th Satirical Prints (Hogarth, Gillray, Rowlandson, Cruikshank), or Fashion Prints, particularly of the Gordon Riot, Peterloo, etc etc who would be kind enough to take a copy via a digital photograph which I could use to illustrate my talks on the 18th and 19th Century without any copyright implications I be very grateful. The same would apply to images of Medallions (eg Kirk) 1750's onwards, and commerative pottery from early 1700's onwards (particularly interested in any images which record the Chartist movement) again which I could use without copywright implications.
Finally I'd be interested in any local newspapers from 1758, 1759, and 1766 (all years of which I have large gaps. And would be interested to access the Cirencester Flying Post. (1742 ? - ...)
A good sized collection of which came up for Auction a year or so ago, via Dominic Winter.
