INTRODUCTION.

The collection on this site consists of over c.800 free searchable extracts and some full transcripts of English and Irish, Georgian and early Victorian Regional Newspapers . One the largest free collections the web full of unique material bringing you one step closer to your ancestors and their world. In excess of 130,000 names. All counties covered but principally Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, London, Lancashire Middlesex, Surrey, Worcestershire, & Wiltshire.

Since 2006 FreeFind has been used to index the site. If you are certain of the exact spelling and capitalisation paste the following into your browser:

http://search.freefind.com/find.html?id=17476245&pageid=r&mode=ALL&n=0&_charset_=utf-8&bcd=%C3%B7&scs=1&q1=&q2=Disney&q3=&q4=&rpp=25&dl=m&stm=n&csen=y

Replace the surname Disney above with the surname, place, etc of interest to you and search

Or you can use " " or wildcard * to locate references. Just type in the name or place or even term of interest, and you'll be directed to the relevant page, once on the page, to locate the report which interests you, use "CTRL F" and enter the word(s) you are seeking.

If you want to search Last Chance to Read just copy the following into Google and replace disney with your search term for c.3000 newspapers

site:lastchancetoread.com "disney"

*** Basic reminders for successful searching ***
Please consider spelling may have changed Solihull may appear as Solyhull. Do check spelling its easy to make a typo - "Buckinghamshire" is fine, but "Buckingmanshire" may miss the results you seek. In general the wider the better so searching for "George Washington" you will get some results, but "Washington" will cover all the bases. And finally to add date range ends at 1876 ! so sadly searching for an event from 1915 won't be successful.

I also take full credit for any errors, so if you think you've found an error please feel free to email me with details and "Local Newspaper Index" in the title and I'll investigate and amend.

Of course if you want more newspapers I always recommend checking WIKIPEDIA Online Historic Newspapers for the most up to date list and which includes both site and Last Chance To Read.

Best of luck, I hope you find the transcripts interesting.
