Simon Spanswick a combmaker of Ramsbury 7 Jun 1745 breaking a hedge belonging to Edward Popham (with Jonathan Liddiard, John Hobbs, Robt Dixon etc etc)

Note : Simon above is probably the son of Simon Spanswick and Mary Guiburt, who married in 1717 at Hungerford, Berkshire, from where he was apprenticed to a combmaker from Ramsbury.

Tuesday 15th October 1850 Marlborough Sessions - Marlborough Bridewell

Richard Spanswick 25 Committed 16th August 1850, by the Hon. and Rev F.P. Bouverie, charged on the oaths of Robert Lyne and others, with have felaniously stolen four lambs, the property of the said Robert Lyne, at Brimslade [Not guilty on this charge]. Also charged on the oaths of Charles Bright and others, with feloniously stolen one Ram, two Ewes and six Lambs, the property of Henry Frederick Butcher at Easton. [this charge has a tick beside it]

[To be transported for ten years in the meantime to be confined to the County Gaol]
Richard is not listed in the Prisons Dec 31st 1850

Ancestry has no additional information to the above conviction "Return of all Persons Committed, or Bailed to appear for Trial, or Indicted at the Michaelmas Sessions, held at Marlborough on the 15th day of October 1850, shewing the nature of their Offences, and the Result of the Proceedings"
Richard Spanswick / Offence of which those Tried were Convicted or Acquitted - and of which those discharged without Trial were charged on Indictment or Commitment : Sheepstealing / Sentence Transportation 10 years.
