Separate Burying Ground
Rural cemetery on Amenia Rd (short road off of Rt 44, and is the border of the towns of Amenia and Washington.  It is 0.8 miles from Rt 44 and adjacent to the large Bel-Air farm.   Graves listed at:   Separate Burying Ground on rootsweb.

CLASSIFICATION: Churchyard.
LOCATION: Two miles south of Smithfield.
CONDITION: Overgrown and neglected.
INSCRIPTIONS: 81 in number. Copied by L. Van Alstyne of Sharon, Conn. See page 206 of "Burying Grounds of Sharon, Conn., Amenia and North East, New York", printed 1903.
REMARKS: "The Separate Church" (Congregational) was built south of Smithfield at an early date. Prior to 1800 the Rev. John Cornwall ministered to the congregation.
