Methodist Ground
Abandoned cemetery on Rt 44, just east of town, on north side of Road.
This was completely overgrown, until a local Boy Scout troop cleaned out
the lot around 1996. Visible in picture 1 is a brown sandstone
milestone marking the distance to Poughkeepsie (to the right
of the telephone pole) It was barely legible in 1996, and is now
completely illegible. These milestones were originally erected
around 1798 on the major roads radiating from Poughkeepsie (Albany
Post Road - now Rt 9 and Rt 44).
