Robert W. Stewart
- Born: 14 Jul 1792 1
- Died: Bef 1822 1
One child, possibly Robert W., was shown in the Montgomery County 1820 Census with parents, John and Mary Stewart.
There were two other Robert W. Stewarts. One a son of Andrew and Sarah Stewart. The other Robert W. Stewart was in Montgomery County, TN when his wife, Rebecca, was appointed administrator of his estate in 1820. It is believed that he was the son of James Stewart, who signed his will in Halifax County, VA on 11 Jan 1780.
In the Montgomery County 1820 Census, Rebecca Stewart is listed with 3 boys and 2 girls. Obviously, if this Robert W. Stewart had been the son of John and Mary Weakley Stewart, we could have expected his father to have listed them in his will of Sep 1822.
We can go one step further and list Robert Weakley Stewart of Hickman, TN the grandson of William Stewart, a revolutionary Soldier, who later lived in Madison County, TN. William also had a son Andrew. There is no limit in the confusion of names and spellings among the Stewart families.
Bartholomew Grayson Stewart, son of William and the father of Robert Weakley Stewart, moved to Madison County, TN.
Robert Weakley of Davidson County, TN sold to B. G. Stewart a part of this 840 acre grant in Humphreys County, TN, on Garner's Creek on 24 Aug 1810 [Hickman county Deed Bk A p 278]
Robert Weakley Stewart died on 4 April 1849 of cholera aboard the steamboat Harry Duff on the Hatchie River in Haywood County, TN.
The excellent and extensive records of the William Stewart family are owned by Mrs. Dorothy (Harold C.) Weaver of Edmundson, Crittenden County, AK. Also Mrs. Elizabeth Tomlinson (S. N.) Lawrence of 412 Lexington AV, Jackson, TN
There was also in Hickman County a Beakley family on Swann Creek. Dr. George W. Beakley of Floresville, Wilson county, Texas is a descendant of the Wm M. Bleakley family of Hickman County, TN 2
