William Tyree Pension Request

State of Tennessee }
Smith County }

On this 19th day of January 1837 personally appeared before me, Exum Whitley one of the Justices of the Peace in an for the said county, Sarah Tyre a resident of the State of Tennessee and county of Smith aforesaid aged eighty one years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the provisions made by thew Act of congress passed July the 4th 1836. That she is the widow of William Tyre who was a pensioner under the law of the United States of the 7th of June, 1832 being entitled hereunto for services rendered as a Private in the army of the revolution as will more fully appear by references to the proofs furnished when he was placed on the Pension List, and also reference to the certificate of J B Edwards, Commissioner of Pensions, which is now before the acting magistrate. Said certificate bears date of the War Office of the United States the nineteenth day of April, 1933 and recorded in the Pension Office in Book E Vol., 7, Pg. 98 by Daniel Boyd, Clerk. She further states that she was legally married to the said William Tyre in the year 1773 or 1774 as well as she can recall, that she had three children born where her husband William Tyre entered the Service. That they were married by the Church Parson in the County of Buckingham, State of Virginia. She knows of no person living that can testify of these facts. She distinctly recollects that her three first children were born before her husband entered the service which places her marriage with William Tyre long before the aforesaid William Tyre died on the 30th Day of September 1833 and that she remains a widow ever since that period. That through old age and body infirmity she is unable to attend at the courthouse to make this declaration in court as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed. Sworn to and subscribed on this the day and year above written before me.
