Soldier and wife had 7 or 8 children but only name given was oldest child, Flanders, b. 19 Mar 1775. <=====> Know all men by these presents that I William Tyree Sen. of the County of Prince Edward in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred pounds to me in hand paid by William Tyree Jun. & David Tyree of the same County at & before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold & confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said William Tyree Jun & David Tyree my negroes (to wit, Patt, Dinah, Mill, Pharaoh, Polly, Peter, Nancy Amy, and Anthony abd all my stock of horses cattle hogs and sheep and all my house hold stuff and implements of household and all my kitchen furniture and Plantation ~~~~ and everything that I have lent to my Daughters Judy Gray, Ann Harvey and Elizabeth Borum and everything that is in my possession to have and to hold all & singular the said negroes, horses, ~~~~, hogs, sheep and all my house hold stuff and implements of house hold and every thing above mentioned and every of them by these presents, granted bargained and sold and confirmed untio (the only proper use and ~~~~ of) the said William Tyree Jun. and David Tyree & their Executors, Adm. & assigns forever freely quietly peacable and entirely without any contradiction claim disturbance or hindrance of any Person whatever and with out any account to me or to any other whatsoever to be made answered or hereinafter to be rendered so that neither I the said William Tyree Sen. nor any other for me or in my name ought to exact challenge claim or demand at any time or time hereafter any right title, interest or demand of who or for the above said negroes Patt, Dinah, Mill, Pharaoh, Polly, Peter, Nancy Amy, and Anthony, and the stock of horses cattle hogs sheep and house hold stuff with every item first above mentioned or any part or parcel thereof but from all actions, right title estate clame demand possession and interest thereof sshall be wholly banned and exluded by force and virtue of this presents, and I the said William Tyree Sen. for myself Executors & Adm. shall & will warrant and forever defend all the singular the said negroes first named stock of horses cattle hogs sheep and every Item first above written untio the said William Tyree Jun. & David Tyree their heirs executors adm. and assigns against me the said William Tyree my executors administrators and assigns and against all and every other person and persons Whatsoever of which negroes ~~~~ I the said William Tyree Sen. have put the said William Tyree Jun. & David Tyree in full possession by delivering to them one negro in the name of all the negroes horses cattle hogs sheep and every other item first written at the sealing and delivery hereof. Moses Thomas Franklin Obadiah Paris John Carson At a court held for Prince Edward County September the 21st 1812 this Bill of sale was presented in court and proved by the oaths of Samuel F. Moss Obadiah Paris & John Carson three witnesses there to ordered that the same be recorded. <=====> State of Tennessee, Smith County On this 28 Day of August 1832 William Tyree, a resident of said county, personally appeared in open court, being a Court of Record having a Seal and Clerk, aged 80 years in December last. And he being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath makes the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefits of the Act of Congress, passed the 7 June 1832. That he entered the Service of the United States, and under the following named officers, and served as having stated - 6 [?] - was drafted in the state of Virginia in Prince Edward County, and was put under the command of Capt. Jesse Owen or Owens, & Lieut. Dudley M. Denman. He was marched from Prince Edward County Virginia to Hillsborough, when he joined the Army under the command of Gen. Gates in Hillsborough. He was appointed a Sergeant and held that appointment until he was discharged. He was marched from Hillsborough with the army under Genrl. Gates, and discharged the duties of wagon master. During his ~~~~~~~ in the Service, he belonged to the Army of Gates at the time of his defeat at Camden, but was not in the action, ~~~~~ [answering?] to his absence upon the duties of his office of wagon master for under supplies for the Army. From Camden he returned with the Army to Hillsborough, and was marched from there to Guilford Court House, where he was regularly discharged. Cols. Stubblefield & Faulkner, he thinks commanded the regiment to which he belonged, and Gen. Stevens commanded the brigade. He thinks he entered the Service in April or May 1780 and served in that capacity six months. Owing to the lapse of time and his advanced age he does not remember his discharge was signed. He knows he was honorably discharged, but it has been many years since he saw his discharge. He knows of no person living in this State by whom he could prove his Service. He has some documentary evidence from his service which is herewith affixed, which he makes part of this declaration, I hereby relinquish every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declare that my name is not on the Pension rolls of the agency of any State or territory. Question: where and in what year was you born? Ans. I was born in Powatan [Powhatan] County and State of Virginia in the year 1752. Quest 2nd: Have you any record of your age, if so, where is it? Ans. I have no record of my age but it would be found consulting the records of the Church of England in Powatan [Powhatan] County, Vir. Quest 3rd: Where were you living when called into the Service, where have you lived since the Revolutionary war, and where do you live now? Ans. I lived in Prince Edward county, Vir. When called into Service - I continued to live on the same land in said county until the year 1807. Marriage Notes:
TYREE FAMILY William Tyree, a soldier of the Revolutionary War and his wife lived in Virginia and had four children. The children's names were Elizabeth, David, Sarah, and Ann. David Tyree, born in the 1770's, and his wife, Patsy, had a son in 1795 that they named Benjamin. On June 23, 1818, David Andrew Tyree was born here in Tennessee and was probably the son of Benjamin. David A's first wife was Catherine Stallings and they had three children, John H. born in 1842, William T. born in 1844, and David A., Jr. born in 1846. David, Sr. served as clerk of Hogan's Creek Baptist Church from 1852 to 1855. After Catherine's death, David, Sr. married Susanna Waggoner and had several children by her. John H. Tyree, David, Sr.'s first child, married Martha Borum in November 1867. They had one son and named him Vollin Walter Tyree. Vollin was born in 1871. John H. married again in August 1873 to Mary Kemp and fathered other children by her. Vollin married Martin Ella Mofield and they had three children, one daughter and two sons. Ella, their daughter, was their first child. Charlie Hale, their second child was born February 1900, and William David, their last was born in March 1905. William David died as an infant in July 1907, after he sustained a head injury at the Old County House. Vollin died in October of 1909. Charlie Hale, their second child, was first married to Corrine Swindle and they had two sons named Bridges and Thomas. Charlie and Corrine were divorced in 1931 and he went on to marry Maude Ella Bowman. Charlie and Maude had three sons, Charles Kenneth, born August 3I, 1933; Morris Wesley, born December 31, 1935 and William Lloyd, born May 13, 1937. Charlie was best known for his many years of service with the City of Carthage Water and Sewer Department. He laid most of the lines in existence in Carthage today with picks and shovels. Charlie died in May 1984. Moris Wesley, their second child, married Katherine Louise Hughes on June 10, 1954. Morris and Katherine have six children as follows: Mary Jean, born August 1, 1955; Marsha Lynn, born April 17, 1957; Myra Dawn, born August 31, 1959; Morris Wesley II (Moose), born September 26, 1961; Molly Marcelle, January 22, 1964; and Michael John, born December 21, 1970.[Morris W.
