bullet  General Notes:

Leroy Elmer Dunn, son of Ida and Alexander Dunn, died Sunday, September 11, 1910, aged 25 years, month and 1 day.

He was born on a farm near Ida Grove, Iowa, August10, 1885. When 7 years of age the family moved to Clinton, Iowa, and in 1889 came to Stanwood. Since then his home has been here with the exception of about 2 years spent in the west. In San Bernadino, California, he was united in marriage to Miss Dona Husing August 17, 1908. She proved to be a faithful helpmate and with the young son, Alex Mearle, remains to mourn his loss. In December 1908, they returned to Stanwood, and he took hold of the work in hand with industry and devotion. The February following their return he contracted a severe cold, which began the relentless battle which finally ended in defeat. Many remedies and physician, with outdoor life, were tried that a cure might be effected, but in vain. On Sunday morning last, in a paroxysm of coughing, a hemorrhage was made and the life was snuffed out. He died about 7 a. m. A father, a mother, a sister and a brother, with many other relatives, remain to mourn his demise.

Roy Dunn was well known in this vicinity and had a host of friends in this vicinity who will sadly miss his happy smile and cheerful way. Although well acquainted with the fact that his days were numbered he was always smiling and cheerful A good friend has departed.

The funeral service was held at the late home in Stanwood Tuesday, September 13, at 2:30 p. m., Rev. D. C. Perry officiating. Interment was in the Stanwood cemetery.
