In Memory of My
Lyons
Family
|
|
Not much is known on my Lyons
Connection. The Irish side of my Family has been very illusive. I hope
that by Publishing this page on the Web, that I can help this Branch grow.

| This family
has used Devine, Devin, Devon and Devlin (or at least
the person writing the name in the census)
To help get this page going, the
only thing I can tell you is :
I have found that James Devine
and Mary Lyons were in Richmond Upper Canada and there they had a son in
1831, they named him Hugh.
They already had at least one other
child. Her name was Mary Ann. On Jan 7, 1834 in Bytown, Mary Ann gets married
to James McKinny.
By pure speculation, I believe
Mary Ann to have been born in Ireland and by 1831 she would be around 14
to 18 years old. That would put her birth date around 1813/1818. My best
guess would put James, Mary and at least one child on a ship to North America
sometime between 1820 and 1830. This would have been prior to the great
Potato Famine but I can not find any trace so far.
