Fred A. Johnson, 83. retired farmer of Ridge Township, died at 10 a, m. Saturday at the Van Rue Geriatric Center after an illness of 10-1/2 months.
Born June 16, 1892 in Ridge Township, he was the son of John A. and Clara (Weaver) Johnson. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and had spent most of his lifetime in Ridge Township.
Surviving are his widow, the former Kattie Gilliland, whom he married in 1904; three brothers, Ambrose of Ridge Township, 0. Homer of 504 W. 'Main St., and Russell of Avon Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar (Blanche) Owens of E. Main St., Mrs. Philip (Clara) Ley of W. Maple Ave., and Mrs. Paul (Gladys) Timbers of Denver, Colo.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Alspach Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Chiles officiating. Interment will be in the Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.
He was buried on 16 Nov 1965 in Ridge Township Cemetery, Van Wert, Ohio. (129) Section 3 A, Row 9. Grave Marker engraved with the name "Fred Allen Johnson." Frederick L. Johnson was a caretaker of the Ridge Cemetery for several years.

Mrs. Katie (Gilliland) Johnson, 81, of Ridge Township, died at 6 a. m. today, in Van Wert County HospitaL She had been in iII health for two years.
A daughter of Samuel B. and Martha Ann Gilliland, she was born Doe. 23, 1885, in Kansas. However, she had resided most of her lifetime In Ridge Township.
Her husband, Fred A. Johnson, whom she married Oct 27, 1904, died In 1965. Two sisters also are deceased. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Bernice Duprey of 210 W. Second St. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Alspach Funeral Home, the Rev. W. P. Webb to officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.
