L. Everett Johnson, 79, formerly of S. Franklin St., died at 6:55 p.m. Monday
at the Lincolnway Home following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 23, 1905, in Van Wert County, a son of L.A. and Josie (Hanby)
Johnson, Sr.
Survivors include his widow, the former Emma E. Hummell, whom he married April
9, 1933; two sons, Paul L. of Fort Wayne and Everett Larry of Shawneem Colo;
a stepson, Gerald E. Jerome of Fort Wayne; a brother, Lewis A. Johnson of Ocala,
Fla.; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Mr. Johnson was a mechanic for Wortman Brothers for 20 years. He was retired
from the Ley Equipment Co. He was a member of First United Brethren in Christ
Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Alspach Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, anytime Friday and until the time
of the service in the funeral home where the family will be present from 7-9
P.M. Thursday, 1-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and 9 a m. until the time of the service
on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to the Church. He was buried on 27 Jun 1985 in Ridge
Township Cemetery, Van Wert, Ohio.(197)

He was married to Emma E. HUMMEL (daughter of
Henry HUMMEL and Mary LANDRUM) on 9 Apr 1933. They were
married by Everett's brother, Rev. Ora E. Johnson, minister of the United Brethren
Church in Rockford, Ohio. Marriage License 3241. Emma
E. HUMMEL (photo) was born on 19 May 1905 in Convoy,
Van Wert County, Ohio. She died on 14 Feb 1997 in Kingston Care Center, Fort
Wayne, Indiana. According to the obituary, Emma Johnson had worked at DWG
Cigar Factory and the Mealtime Restaurant, both in Van Wert. She was a member
of the First United Brethren Church in Christ in Van Wert and participated in
various groups within the church.
Funeral Service was held February 18, 1997 at Gearhart Funeral Home in Van
Wert. She was buried on 18 Feb 1997 in Ridge Township Cemetery, Van Wert, Ohio.
