Charley James Dead
Charley James, son of Mr. & Mrs. W.H. James was born April 17, 1884 and died September 7, 1931, at the age of 47 years, 4 months and 20 days.
He was united in marriage with Italy (Hayes) Burkhart September 30, 1923 and to this union one child was born, a daughter Fay Lucille, who with the mother survives him. Four sisters and one brother also survive. namely, Mrs. Rosa Marriott, and Mrs. Delia Silvey, both of Versailles, Mrs. Anna Riffle of Barnett, Mrs. Addie McElhaney, of Wyoming and Oliver James of Versailles.
He professed faith in Christ several years ago and lived a consecrated Christian Life.
Funeral services were conducted at the Gravois community house on September 9th in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. L.V. Webb had charge of the service. Interment was at Holst Cemetery

Minnie Ellen Hayes
Minnie Ellen Hayes, 96, Higbee, MO, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Moberly Regional Medical Center, Moberly, she had been in failing health for some time.
Born Nov. 7, 1889 in Cheyenne, WY to William and Martha Atkisson Cleveland, she moved to Higbee 20 years ago from Burton in Howard Co. She was a member of the Glady Tydings Church of God in Moberly.
Surviving are four sons: Ernest Hayes, Higbee; Doug Hayes, Springdale AR; Clyde Hayes, Armstrong and Charles Hayes, Belton; three daughters: Bonnie Crenshaw, and Hazel Brooks, both of Higbee and Dorothy Bishop, New Franklin; sister Lulu Patrick, Centralia IL; 46 grandchildren, 171 great-grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 121 great great grandchildren, 15 step great great grandchildren, 1 great great great grandchild and 1 step great great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sine Hayes in 1965, 3 sons: Henry, Herbert, and Ralph Hayes, a daughter: Eula Woods, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Services were held at 12 p,m, Wednesday October 15, 1986 at First Assembly of God Church, Versailles MO with Rev. Stanley Kostencki officiating and burial in the Versailles Cemetery.
Margaret Jane Hayes
Margaret Jane Hayes, age 77, Eldon, died Thursday morning, Sept. 10 1992, at the Miller County Nursing Home in Tuscumbia. She was born June 15, 1915, in Camden County, a daughter of the late Oliver and Emma Walls Sousley
She married Jess A. Hayes who survives of the home on October 19, 1935.
Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God Church in Eldon, The Womens's Missionary Council, the Mount Herman Extension Club and Gideons International Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband she is survived by four sons, Claude Hayes, Karl Hayes, and Delbert Hayes, all of Eldon. and Charles Hayes, Springfield; six brothers, George Sousley, Willow Springs, Oliver Sousley, Belton,, Audrey Sousley, Colorado Springs, Colo., Donald Sousley, Harrisonville, Norman Sousley, Kansas City, and Robert Sousley, Versailles; four sisters, Nellie Pipes, Tiny Vogt and Phyliss Johnson, Versailles, and Ethel Bishop, Kansas City; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Marshall Hayes; one brother, Raymond Sousley; and one sister, Ruby Sousley.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday Sept 12, at the First Assembly of God Church in Versailles. The Rev. Roy Bennett, Rev. Sam McGarity and Rev. Nelson Sachs officiated. Grandsons served as casket bearers with interment in the Greenmore Memorial Park Cemetery in Barnett. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
James Wesley Sidebottom
James Wesley Sidebottom, 94, of died Thursday, Oct., 14, 1993 at Memorial Community Hospital in Jefferson City.
He was born July 5, 1899 near Rocky Mount to Jefferson Davis and Tamar Hindman Sidebottom. On Aug. 30, 1919 he was married in Versailles to Molly Hayes, who survives at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Versailles.
Mr. Sidebottom was employed with the Rock Island Railroad in Morgan County for many years. He was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Barnett.
Surviving him are five sons, Paul Sidebottom of Great Bend, Oregon, Alvin Sidebottom of Versailles, Raymond Sidebottom of Barnett, Ronald Sidebottom of Oak Grove and Herbert Sidebottom of Warsaw; seven daughters, Goldie Branstetter of Eldon, Margaret Wood of Sacramento, Calif., Ruby Weaver of Topeka, Kan., Mary Hall of Barnett, Ester Howser of Osceola, Naomi Wood of Barnett and Wilma Wasmer of Peculiar; a sister Rachel Gerlt of Blue Springs; 37 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the New Life Assembly of God with the Rev. Tom Madole officiating. Burial was in Greenmore Memorial Park at Barnett under the direction of Scrivner Funeral Home in Versailles.
John L Bishop
John L. Bishop, 1914-2005, Versailles John L. Bishop, 90, of Versailles, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born March 28, 1914, in Eldon, a son of Robert and Mary Hayes Bishop. On Oct. 5, 1940, he was married to Lucille Troutman, who survives of the home. Mr. Bishop worked for Kansas City Bifocal in Versailles for 33 years, before he retired. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Versailles. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion for 60 years. Also surviving are a son, J.C. Bishop, and his wife, Jane, of Oak Grove; a daughter, Marsha Trent, and her husband, Dan, of Lee's Summit; a sister, Mildred Price, of Tipton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with the Rev. Todd Forman officiating. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery, with military rites at graveside. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may sign the guest register online at www.kidwellgarber.com. The family suggests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church.
Alma Louise (Gunn) Hayes
Alma Louise Hayes, age 75, of Bunceton, Missouri, formerly of Versailles, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Cooper County Hospital in Boonville, Missouri. She was born May 14, 1927 near Barnett, Missouri, the daughter of John and Virginia McGinnis Gunn. She was united in marriage on March 9, 1946 to Clifford L. Hayes who preceded her in death on June 1, 1999. Mrs. Hayes was a supervisor for Primo Pants in Versailles. She was a member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Gravois Mills. She is survived by one daughter, Jean Hurt and husband, Ronald of Bunceton, Missouri; one brother Wade Gunn of Peoria, Illinois; two sisters, Brooks Burkhart of Kliever, Missouri, and Fannie Ewe of Washington, Illinois; three grandchildren, Ronald Wayne Hurt, Crystal Chapman and Kent Hurt; three great-grandchildren, Heaven Myers, Taylor Hurt, and Lexus Chapman, many other relatives and friends. Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Roy Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
