Ferdinand Dentinger / Dendinger is my g-g-grandfather. He left his home in
the Alsace-Lorraine area at the age of 22 along with his wife Margaret (Meyer)
and their two year old daughter, Margaret. They boarded a ship called the Windsor
Castle in Havre, France and arrived in New York on June 12, 1845.
The couple settled in and lived on a farm in Reed
Twp., Seneca Co., Ohio that eventually grew to encompass 200 acres.
The house still stands today.
Ferdinand had a very large family to help with his farm chores. I
have been able to identify four wives , Margaret
Meyer, Magdalena Willman,
Josephine Weishart, and Anna Hummer Herrig, and 21 children. If you
are researching your Dentinger / Dendinger roots from Seneca Co., Ohio there is
a very good chance that Ferdinand is an ancestor of yours. Follow the links
above to each mother's name to see pages set up specifically for their children
and grandchildren.
The photos on this page are mostly from family reunions and many people remain
unidentified in them. If you can name someone from a photo please do not
hesitate to contact me.
