The Probate Records name only Mary Arlene and Chiles as minor heirs - what happened to the other children and his wife?
Chiles M. Dowdy becomes the guardian for Mary but what about Chiles? |

Chiles is called Charles in the 1850 Census, but in the court records he is called Chiles.
No Records of this family found after 1870. |
Theory:
The Malinda mentioned in the Deed Records for Stoddard Co. in 1858 & 1860 may be the widow of Silas.
