| Theory: George K. Dowdy was born in NC, because Gibson, was born in NC but Chiles was born in TN by 1811. {William C. is placed as first child, born in NC without proof, only on the theory that he was close to his wife's age b. 1801.} Since Gibson's wife Nancy was from Bedford Co., TN, then they probably got married there, and Gibson was probably from there, and there is a George Dowdy in the Deed Records and Census, of the right age, and many of George K.'s children were born in TN, George K. probably lived in Bedford Co., TN from about 1810 to 1830 Also, the 1830 Census of Bedford Co., TN lists George, Martin, Allen, & William Dowdy, these names also show up together in Hickman Co., KY between 1830 and 1840. The Martin and Sophia Dowdy in Hickman Co., KY in 1838 are also found in Williamson Co., TN records. - Connie Perkins |
