Therin "Louise" Murphy, 77, of
Albia, died Monday morning, Feb. 16, 2004 at her home in Albia.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004,
at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. Burial will be in St.
Mary's Cemetery in Albia.
She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Albia, to Merle and Bertha Frazier
Muck. She married Robert "Bob" Cecil Murphy on Nov.
15, 1942 in Unionville, Mo. Louise was a homemaker and had worked
as a nurses aid and ward clerk at the Monroe County Hospital
in Albia. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia
and its Altar and Rosary Society.
To the union of Louise and Bob's marriage they raised eight
children: Ronald and his wife Carole of Muskegon, Mich., Dean
and his wife Mary Kay of Albia, Teresa Stiles and husband Dick
of Pickerington, Ohio, Mary Gregoire and husband Bob of Renton,
Wash., Sheila Elkin and husband Jack of Albia, Pat and wife Judy
of Albia, Mike and wife Cheta of Albia, and James, who is deceased,
and his wife Judy of Duluth, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; and 33
great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Janice
Jones of Des Moines, Sharon Tucker of Albia and Diane Hood of
Pennsylvania; five brothers, Robert Douglas of Illinois, Richard
Douglas of Marion, Kenneth Muck of Oklahoma, Merle Muck, Jr.,
of Washinton and Eddie Muck, also of Washington.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father,
John Douglas, Sr.; one son, James Murphy; one grandson, Bradley
Stiles and one great-grandson, Joshua Murphy; two brothers, John
Douglas, Jr.; and one in infancy; and one sister, LaDonna Kendrick.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Winfield
Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 6-8 p.m.,
Wednesday evening. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m., Wednesday
afternoon and a Christian wake service will be held Wednesday
evening at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Don, Dean, Mike, Pat, Todd and Eric Murphy.
Memorials may be made to Monroe County Health Care Foundation
Kidney Dialysis Research or to St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Albia.
Winfield Funeral Home in Albia is in charge of arrangements.
