These photos are of Medallions that were in the possession of James WELLS (b. ca.1890) when he died in New South Wales, Australia in 1939. If you can help with identification, please contact me. James was supposed to have lived in Northern Queensland and NSW.
The words on the face of this Medallion are "B & CH 2 Mile Road Race 1901"
The wording on the back of the Medallion is "Won by J. WELLS".
Is this a Boer War Medal?
This is an "Unfit For Service" Medallion (WW1). I have been to the Archives in Victoria to check out the original registers, but there seems to be no records other than the name of to whom which numbered medallion was issued to. According to the records, this particular Medallion was issued to a Reginald YALDWYN, and the next consecutive Medallion was issued to a James WELLS. Can anyone tell me IF there are any other records that can give me any further information?
What is this Medal? The front has only the initials "J.W" on it.
