Where
they lived:
Thomas
Marlow, Sr. lived in the New River area, in the southwestern part
of Campbell County, near the border of Campbell and Anderson Counties.
Between 1850 and 1860, the southwestern border of Campbell County
was extended into Anderson County.8
There are a number of neighboring families listed in 1850 Anderson
Co. that are listed in 1860 Campbell Co. I am assuming this 16th
subdivision, where Thomas lived, is part of the section of Anderson
County that became Campbell County before 1860.

his birth year would have been 1802; 1860 census states birth place

Notes
Here
is a major source of confusion.
There
is a Thomas Marlow listed in Campbell County in 1840. Many people
have linked this entry to the Thomas Marlow/Elizabeth Ward/Profanes
White family. It is unclear if this is true.
There
is another Thomas Marlow (b. 1805 in VA) listed in the 1850 Campbell
County Census, with a wife, Elizabeth (b. 1809) and 7 children,
one named Thomas. This is NOT the Thomas Marlow who later married
Profanes. The children only match up in the 1850 Anderson County
à 1860 Campbell County listing. This does not explain why
Profanes is not listed in the 1850 household, however.
The
family that was listed in 1850 Campbell County moved to Whitley
Co, KY by 1860.
