Sometime after Ida and her twin were born, he signed everything over to this wife and entered the Old Soldiers' Home. A census record confirms this. He served in the Civil War.

In 1870, a Thirsten Lofland is found in St. George, New Castle County, Delaware.

In 1890, Trusten is in Locust Township, Christian County, IL with wife Emma, son William, daughter Ida. Some records also refer to Thurston (probably the same person).

A T. P. Lofland is mentioned in The 10.

[LIND:]Winfield Wheeler, Curtin Hotel, died yesterday at Auburn Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Sept. 21. Mr. Wheeler was a former employee of Cayuga Post 1975 VFW. He leaves no immediate survivors. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Avery E. Neagle Funeral Home, the Rev. James E. Mahagan, rector at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery.
 
Note*Winfield of Cuba, NY is mentioned in Lloyd A. Wheeler's obituary as a surviving brother. He also appears as administrator of Harlan Wheeler's will and of his mother's estate. The mother is Anna P. Jones, Arthur Hamilton Wheeler's second wife, so Winfield is Lloyd and Blanche's half brother.
