| Note* | Never married.2 |
| Burial* | Genevieve Worden was buried buried with her sisters in Oakridge, OR. |
| Anecdote* | Am unsure of when she moved to Oregon [expect between 1930 and 1935] but lived independently for many years in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon (which is about 45minutes west of Oakridge where both sisters lived). My mother, Pearl J Paddock Espelund, recalls that she lived in a small apartment near 6th and Broadway above a candy store. During WW II my mother also lived in Eugene and assisted with things such as transportation to shopping or church. Genevieve typed, played piano and apparently had a lovely voice. She sang in the choir at her church of Christian Science and also for a local Eugene women's group.
Genevieve was blind from either birth or early childhood.2 |

Charles Augustas Paddock1,2
M, #7656
| Anecdote* | Moved to Hazel Dell (Oakridge), Lane County, Oregon in 1920 with husband and two children. Though there is a wonderful history within that area of both the Paddock families ~James and his wife, Charles and his wife ~ I will not expound here. Charles and Beulah's 'retirement' business was Midway Gardens in Oakridge with 5 commercial greenhouses, a retail front with cut flowers and provision for most weddings and burials in the community. At one time in the 1960's they provided much of the nursery plants to the mid Willamette Valley. When we were in country and visiting I would always remember grandma out in the huge carnation greenhouse and the lovely aroma. Years later when she became ill she came to stay with mom and dad. I was starting nursing school in my mid 30's at the time and remember the feeling of privilege of being able to re-position and make comfortable my grandmother when on a stay at the local hospital in Lebanon. Months later grandma died in that hospital (where I eventually worked for nearly 20 years). In a following clinical I was assigned a patient in the same room and bed, the same age and the same diagnosis as my grandmother. When my instructor realized she offered to relieve me of that patient. But, no, it was a wonderful learning experience and I was able to be at that patient's bedside when she passed.2 |
