Hugh Francis was, like his father, a coal miner. He met and married Julia Cecelia BELL, who was born in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. After having several children and with Hugh's health (from coal dust) being threatened, the Cannons moved to Plainfield, New Jersey. Hugh found a custodial job with Johnson & Johnson, a then up-and coming business. Like his predecessors, he fathered a large family, most of whom are still living. Hugh retired from J&J do to ill health. He eventually succumbed to the effects of the "coal dust" and died from lung related problems. Julia was a seamstress and worked, until her death, designing ballgowns and wedding apparel. The family of Hugh and Julia Cannon are as follows.
Hugh Francis CANNON b. December 18,1895 in Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, d. November 24, 1962 in Piscataway, New Jersey. He married Julia Cecelia BELL b. August 1,1898 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania, d. May 6, 1975 in Piscataway, New Jersey.
l. Helen b. March 2,1917 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania married Edward BERGER-they moved to South Plainfield, New Jersey.One child, Rita Ann, married Robert Hensperger.
2. Hugh Francis, Jr. b. April 16, 1920 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. married 1st. Marie YURCZEK. No children. He married again in his later years to Adeline (Scotty) MOORE. They were killed in a car crash March 27,1983 in North Mountain, Pennsylvania.
3. Mary Theresa b. July 20, 1921 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. Never married, moved to Hughesville, Pennsylvania.
4. Francis John b. June 22, 1922 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. d. July 9, 1986 in South Plainfield, New Jersey. He married August 24, 1946 (St. Stanislaus RC Church, Hazleton, Pennsylvania) to Violet Regina Marion BERA b. September 7, 1923 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Three children, Carol Ann, Frances and Michael.

5. Patricia (Sister) b. March 17, 1925 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. d. Februar 7, 1949. She married Edward MIRANDA. Patricia was killed in a car accident in Connecticut. One child, William, died in 1956 after being hit by a car.
6. Joseph b. April 18, 1927 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. married Kathleen (Taffy) BOXILL. They moved to Scotch Plains, New Jersey. One child, Mark Boxill Cannon.
7. Edward Hugh b.November 3, 1928 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. married July 3, 1954 in Plainfield, New Jersey. to Doris KIRKMAN b. July 15, 1930 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. They moved to Unityville, Pennsylvania. One child Julianne.
8. Anna b. February 11, 1930 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. She married Edward MIRANDA in 1951. They moved to South Plainfield, New Jersey. Four girls, Renee, Loretta, Michelle and Rita.
9. Theresa b. November 18, 1931 in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania. She married Theodore FOGEL. They moved to Hughesville, Pennsylvania. Three girls, Linda, Patricia and Kathleen.
