Back in Australia

About nine months after he left for WW1, Julia gave birth to their son, Frederick William Bragg, who was born on the 19th September 1916 in Bullyard, Qld. Frederick William married Lola Joyce Carswell on the 9th September 1950 in Qld and they had six children. They still live in Bundaberg today.

Upon Frederick Charles' return, Julia again became pregnant, this time with twins. Unfortunately, the babies were born two months premature, on the 29th March 1920. They were named Julia Beryl and Leslie Noel. Julia died on the 3rd April 1920 and Leslie joined her three days later. They were buried without a Minister in Bullyard.

By 1922, Frederick Charles was with Mary Ellen Commerford, who had been born in Queensland to Thomas John Commerford and Norah Duggan. On the 19th November 1922, in Trundle, NSW, she gave birth to Kathleen Mary Bragg. She gave birth again on the 1st August 1924, to William Bragg however, the birth resulted in her developing a clot embolism and she died seven days later. She is buried in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Trundle. A search of all the marriage indexes for Queensland has failed to turn up any evidence of a marriage between Mary Ellen and Frederick. The only marriage that was located was one for Mary Ellen marrying Percival William Burnett Clark in 1921.

William was adopted out and Frederick returned, with Kathleen, to stay with Julia. Some time about 1925, Frederick left Queensland and ended up in South Australia, again with Kathleen.

Frederick then was with Edna May Wallace, who was born on the 8th of May 1907 in Boughtman Street, South Broken Hill to Charles Ernest Wallace and Lilian May (Lawn). Frederick and Edna had three children - Norman, born the 6th August 1929, Ronald, born the 7th September 1932 and Raymond Wallace Bragg, born the 28th December 1930. All were born in Adelaide. Frederick died on the 16th June 1956 in Adelaide, SA, as the result of being hit by a tram. He is buried in Adelaide.

Between 1956 and 1958, Edna May was married for the first time, to Charles Stubbing. As for Julia, being the only legally recognised wife, she was notified of Fredericks death in 1956. She had moved to Bundaberg and had never divorced Frederick. Julia died on the 24th August 1958 in the General Hospital, Bundaberg. She had suffered from Ischaemic heart disease and in the last three months of her ilfe, had developed congestive heart failure. She was buried on the 26th August 1958 at the Bundaberg General Cemetery.
