Notes:
1. Oliver Gallagher, Cotteen, son of James Gallagher (deceased), Carrickataskin, married Catherine Gallagher, Carrickataskin, dau of Alexander Gallagher, Cotteen, 3 Feb 1881 at St Mary's Tullaghobegly. They had dispensation for 4th degree consanguinity, so would have been 3rd cousins. Witnesses were James Sweeney, Knockastoller and Frances McCole, Carrickataskin.
2. Cotteen is in Magheragallen and Carrickataskin appears to be within Ardnagappery townlands.
3. Catherine's sister Bridget married Edward McGee -
Bridget Gallagher, dau of Alexander Gallagher, Cotteen, married Edward McGee, Rubbleshinny, son of Condy McGee 21 Feb 1891 at St Mary's. Witnesses Edward Gallagher and Mary O'Donnell, Cotteen.
4. Mary Gallagher, 20 yrs, of Gweedore, dau of Alexander Gallagher and Mary McCarthy, emigrated to Australia on the Sapphire, arriving Sydney 24 May 1859. She had a relative in the colony - and uncle Oliver Gallagher in Sydney - see Sapphire passenger list
5. Grace Gallagher, 16 yrs, of Gweedore, dau of Alexander and Mary Gallagher, emigrated to Australia on the Burlington, arriving Sydney 16 Feb 1867. Nothing more known.
6. Alexander Gallagher of Magheragallen was the only Gallagher of that name who was the head of his household in Gweedore in 1857 - his land was taken over by Oliver Gallagher, probably at the time of his death. Valuation records and death cert still to be obtained.
