Commissioners of Irish Education Inquiry Second Report 1826  - John Scott was the Schoolmaster at Winter Hill, Haugh, a Protestant, who ran a free school out of a stone and lime building, costing 10.
His total annual income arising in all ways from the school was 9. The number of pupils in attendance on an average of 3 months proceeding Nov 1826 were 28 Church of Ireland, 6 Presbyterians and 4 Roman Catholic children.
