He married Lucinda Jones in Merriwether County, Georgia, 16 SEP 1841. Lucinda was born in South Carolina 1827. Lucinda was the daughter of William Henry Jones and Sarah A. ?.

Mortimer Waters and Lucinda Jones had the following children:

2 i. Sarah Francis² Waters was born in Tennessee 8 JAN 1843. Sarah died 20 DEC 1925 in Steele, Saint Clair County, Alabama, at 82 years of age. Her body was interred abt. 23 DEC 1925 in Steele, Saint Clair County, Alabama, Dearman Chapel Cemetery. She married Joseph Pinkney Logan 1860. Joseph was born in Alabama 4 JUL 1838. Joseph was the son of Tisdel Spencer Logan and Nancy Mauldin. Joseph died 12 APR 1868 in Steele, Saint Clair County, Alabama, at 29 years of age. His body was interred abt. 15 APR 1868 in Steele, Saint Clair County, Alabama, Dearman Chapel Cemetery. (See Joseph Pinkney Logan for the continuation of this line.)

3 ii. James Waters was born in Tennessee 1846.

4 iii. Mary Waters was born in Alabama 1849.
